Im living in sweden were there are severe restriction of alcohol sales, i was just wondering about the beerkegs that are so prominently featured in all the college movies, how big are they? How much do they cost and can you tap the beer without any additional equipment?
Are they available everywhere or do you have to order them?

nothing is more fun than learning about beer :P , am i right

Theyre practically required at any part over 10 or so people. The cost varies wildly by whats in the keg, obv, but its almost always cheaper than just buying bottles

In most places you "rent" the keg and the tap. Basically a deposit on the shell and tap which you get back when you return the shell and tap.

Theyre available everywhere. Every liquor store, most convenience stores.

15.5 gallons

165 beers or 6.5 cases of beer, or something close to that

Prices vary depending on quality of beer, anywhere from $60-$200 per keg

like boost said. You can only get a 1/2 barrel. Other options are a quarter barrel (~7.5 gallons) or a 1/6 barrel (usually micro-brews)

yah I just thought about it and even in restaurants and bars I only see half barrels. This leads me to believe that there is no such thing as a full barrel, except way back in the day. Like back in the day a typical barrel would be ~32 gallons, but todays industry no longer has a need for something so large. Anyways, beer is delicious, too bad Im broke so I prob wont be having any for a long time.

A case of 12 beer in Canada costs about $25, and our dollar is almost worth as much as the USD now.
How much is a case of beer down there? 9.99?

DAMN YOU ALL!

I was in Washington last weekend and saw bottles of OE for $1.99 (they are $7 up here)...
It must be so easy to be an alcoholic down there.

I thought Norway was the only country with such high prices on alcohol, apparently Canada is the same.

We go to Sweden to get cheap beer .

Old Milwaukees appeared at our local kroger for 8.99 for a case! It was something like 40 cents per beer! So obviously we bought a couple of cases and did case races that night but that stuff was awful. Once the price climbed to 12 bucks, we hoped right back on the Natty wagon.

hey, im not trying to be a beer-nit. Yah all cheap lite beers taste the same, but there is a distinct difference in flavours between coors and keystone. And within the beer world, this difference makes keystone suck huge balls.

coors and natty are pretty drinkable, in my opinion.

Natty lite is the king of cheap beers.

Natty Ice is nowhere near as good.

As a young man I once proclaimed that I would drink Natty Light until the day I died. Well, this didn't come true as I have now graduated to "higher class" beers such as Miller Lite (lol), but whatevs. Natty Light still has a very special place in my heart, and is most definitely the king of cheap beers.

If I'm drinking a 40 I'm definitely with a bunch of people being stupid, so I'll go with OE or Colt 45. Milwaukee's Best is a possibility too.
