I felt the need to discuss “CAPTCHA” (That annoying test used in to ensure that a response is not generated by a computer, anti-spam filter)
I understand the concept & the purpose it serves (I’ll be it a good/valid/important purpose)
That being said; is it just me…or has this become a serious pain-in-the-ass?
Where is the line drawn between anti-spam precautions & downright ridiculousness…My thoughts:
I Will be the 1st to admit that I am not completely familiar with the algorithms used by these spam bots. But are these sort of precautions entirely necessary? Can a line of code honestly differentiate between this orgy of alphanumerics?
My Concern:
Is this becoming a conversion issue? Are people potentially so turned off by this nonsense that they are dissuaded away from signing up to a particular forum/site? I think is becoming an issue...Just my opinion, what do you think?

Try 8 tabling 6max and have one pop up in the middle of a long session, then the steal focus keeps robbing your cursor. Party gets me at least 2 times a month. I may leave because of it. Really, are there successful bots at NL 6 max?

Yea I don't understand why some of them are so ridiculous. Soon they are going to have mini-mist games where you have to escape out of the room to verify your account!

I had the random pop up thing on stars come into the chatbox because I was accused of being a bot. I had like 60 seconds or something to type whatever it was I needed to in the box or else they'd figure me out. I almost didn't make it since I had so many tables open

So fucking annoying. At least they've started to put refresh-buttons next to them - I often have to try 3+ different images before I get one that I'm able to solve.
I can see the need when it comes to preventing brute-force password breaking, but I don't think they are very helpful when it comes to detecting poker bots. If someone can write a winning bot then they can probably send the captcha to a cellphone and have the owner solve it.
