I have SBC Yahoo DSL and once a month or so I lose my connection. It was just down for about 30 minutes. Fortunately, I was done playing for the night. I've been on a donkament heater this month and I've been moving up aggressively; nowadays it's common for me to have well over a thousand dollars of chip equity in play at any given time. It seems insane for me to have an Internet connection that's not 100% reliable.

How does one go about getting a backup Internet connection? Do any of you guys have one? Keep in mind that you're talking to someone who knows nothing about Internet connections other than how to stick a cable into the wall.

I predict that Trikflow will give the best response to this question but it seems like a lot of you high stakes donkament players might have a need for backup Internet.

I have a backup with a Verizon wireless card. It also allows me to connect on the road at airports and other spots.

If my internet goes down I just turn on my wireless modem and steal my neighbors internet.

Get some phone numbers of people you trust here on FTR and call them up and they can play for you (while you talk them through it on the phone). I've seen plenty of others do this in a jam...

But I play 9 tables. This might work for one final table but overall it isn't that good of an option...

I just checked and no one in my apartment has a decent wireless connection that isn't password protected. I'm not looking for the cheap way out guys. It's totally worth it to me to pay for another connection even if I only need it two or three times a year.

Make sure your provider doesn't offer you one.

If not, you should be able to sign up for something like earthlink online, they will give you a user name and a list of local access numbers and easy start up info that I am 100% sure you can follow.

related technical question:

is there a way you can be connected to 2 different internet providers at once? Obviously if you lose connection on one, you can just fire another one up, but is there a way where the 2nd one is always connected, or connects immediately once the first one is breached?

CALL SOMEONE THAT CAN HANDLE IT

i have 2 connections, a cable one and a fiber optic one. The cable is the back up and if my fiber optic one goes down (which it does 1-2 times a month) i just plug in the cable connection into my router and i have it almost instantly.
