Classic hollow, shallow minded, and over-simplified summary with not only multiple false embellishments, but a transparent 'spin' over generalizing a proven style that has reaped multiple MTT wins and countless deep finishes in huge field tourneys.
Excluding personality flaws and ‘life-tilt issues’ and my blatant lack of tact and good judgement in message forums...nobody and I mean nobody can critique my approach to tournament poker....let alone Brian (Fnord) who has been, and always will be a math-head limit grinder with no grasp for the psychology behind tourmanent poker.
This over simplified blog of his is so far off the map it’s not even funny
# 1 I never and I repeat never said anything of the sort to brsavage in that tourney. Not during, before...or after. I deny 100% ever saying that I was going to ‘bust him with rags’...in fact if memory serves me correctly...I was nowhere near MIRC during that tourney....I was playing on a laptop when I was living in Sherman Oaks and there is absolutely no way that I was multi tasking MIRC and Stars on the final table of a $10.00 rebuy. And I do believe that I took 4th or 5th in that particular tourney when I made a move on BR’s blind with trash and he made a great call against me with A/5. I actually sent Chris a PM on P5’s (before I got banned obv) giving him props for making a sick call for ½ his stack. Bottom line is that in this particular instance....Brian (Fnord) is totally and 100% full of shit.
# 2 As for this ‘Oh, his favorite hand is 74 offsuit. His favorite bluff is to play any Axx board like he has the nuts.’ More spinster bullshit...Yes, back in the day when FTR was a mere blip on the interweb with a couple hundred members...I adopted 7/4os as my ‘signature’ hand . Who fucking cares ? Brian paints this picture as if I am playing it out of position or calling massive raises for ½ my stack with it. I posted several hands on FTR where I sucked out with 7/4os (or other rags) and now according to Fnords synopsis and 2 paragraph definition, I play that hand the same way everytime it’s dealt to me. This is just bullshit slander and complete fiction based on a mere handful of examples that I posted on FTR for comedic value. I most certainly advocate loosening up starting hand requirements and playing LaGG...but if anyone thinks for one second I don’t understand the concept of ‘chip preservation’ and just want to dismiss my approach as this blind , reckless kamikaze kind of strat...well you are sorely mistaken.
Brian’s little double post summarizing my game is based solely upon his unmanifested inner desire to free himself from a limit players mindset....nothing more. This is a man who has already tried (and failed miserably I might add) to ‘turn pro’ multi tabling 2/4 and 3/6 limit games for (X) amount of bb’s per hour. Need I remind everyone of Brians past aspirations to leave his successful job as a cubicle nerd flushing away a 50K plus a year salary to ‘turn pro’ when only a few weeks later he was undoubtedly flooding monster with his resume’ after aborting his delusions of grandeur’
It appears the common theme of most posts about me recently (not just on FTR but on other forums I have been banned from) concern the fact that A: I am 42 and B: how fucked up my life is and C: what a loser I am and D: how I am begging stakes and loans and that E: I am ‘bi-polar’ (according to Xianti) and countless other descriptions that suggest I am some kind of piece of shit with rage issues etc etc etc. There has been so much of this kind of crap written about me over the last year or so I won’t even go there. A lot of it I 100% deserve...I won’t deny that for one minute. I have unloaded on a lot of people and said a lot of shit I regret so I am not making excuses for any of that...but on the other hand....a lot of the things written about me are based solely upon spite, and the fact that I am a pretty easy target. I’ve always been very open about who I am and confided a lot things to a lot of people not only on FTR but in other venues and forums...The irony of every bash post I read about me is that most of the people who spew all this crap are the same ones who used to PM me and talk to me on Yahoo or AIM or IRC or various forums kissing my ass begging me to shadow them or saying how much my strat guides helped their games. I am not even going to name any names because its pointless to single people out here....but every last person bashing me and ripping on me for not only my strats and my game are the very same people who used to pick my brain and sung my praises back in the day when FTR was young. (with the exception of Fnord only because we are on opposite sides of the poker strategy spectrum of colors)
Brian personal note to you: Now and then a ‘ripptyde’ post pops up on FTR and you always seem to chime in with some kind of critique of my approach to poker. (not to mention mean spirited jabs about the state of my life...or at least what you perceive it to be) Lets forget the fact that I am a headcase and key on the poker aspect of things for one second shall we ?
First and foremost, you have no CLUE what you are talking about. You don’t play tournaments...never have played tournaments...(except maybe in small doses) and have no history of ever..and I mean EVER taking down a big score....in anything. Where do you get off questioning and analyzing me and blindly summarizing my entire approach/outlook and strat mindset based on a handful of rag suckouts I posted on this forum ? I believe I explained many many times on the value of making –EV plays against short stacks. I assure you Sir, that my understanding for tournament NL holdem is light years beyond your comprehension as a pseudo savant math junkie. You have little if any understanding for the psychological element of NL holdem....which is why I suspect that you have been content to grind limit.
End of rant for the most part, but I will say that the vast majority of the people on FTR ripping on me used to kiss my ass and ask for advice and insight on poker when I was a well respected charter member and moderator of this forum. The rest of you just jumped on the bandwagon for the party. The only FTR members I ever met in person were Brian (Fnord), Ben (radashack), Xianti , Eric, Tyson and scgolfer. We had a good time in Vegas and all sat in Xianti’s hotel room at Mandalay Bay getting drunk and sitting around a small table playing a $40.00 ‘sit and go’ LoL and had a good time.

Xianti btw I have no intentions of rejoining this forum under an alias but I did feel compelled to reply to Fnords post some of which was completely false. Also, through all of the changes in online poker I've always been a pretty big winner. I'll take not moving up fast/aggressive enough over busto any day.

Seriously, you have really serious mental health issues. Healthy people don't get their chat cut off on every site, get banned from every major poker forum and winning poker players don't need loans to play $25NL. Get help and come back into the fold. Lots of people think well of you.

Ripp - I got on the FTR bandwagon too late to really get to know you, but from what I do know I think you and I actually have a lot of the same addictive prone personality traits that can lead to going busto.
I believe I am one of the few current FTR members who has made consistent big scores only to repeatedly donk it back off. For me, it has nothing to do with my knowledge of or skills in poker - this might be cocky, but I know I am a damn good poker player. It has everything to do with my ability to control my emotional state. This inability to control my mental state combined with my cockiness/arrogance has repeatedly had drastic outcomes for me. When I go on a downswing I will do the opposite of what any rational player would do and move UP in stakes to "win my money back" and then I will continue to chase my losses until I am busto.
When people here tell you that you need help, you might be failing to realize that it is because they are actually concerned about you and would like to see you do well. I know that there are FTR members who believe that you could be a longterm winning player if you finally practiced good bankroll management and were willing to adjust your game when needed.
So when I tell you that I agree that you need help it coming from someone who needs help himself. I am actually going to seek it out this time and make a definitive plan so that my busto phase doesn't happen again. I hope you do too.
