Not sure if this is in the right place mods? Ok, here is my situation: i want to get a laptop and play at work.
Pros:
-i am the boss
-i have an easy 4-6 hrs. of absolute alone/free time to play, each day 5 days a week!
Cons:
-no knowledge of what to get or how to set this up
-can not use the internet connection here at work. *Afraid of being traced or monitored* (Would need to go Wireless?)
-worried about security and being hacked
anyone that has knowledge on how to go about this, i would definately appreciate the assistance!

no internet = no poker
If you can't use the office network, the only way you're in business is if you can find a wireless connection.

The advice id have about playing with a laptop is to make sure to get a mouse for it and also you may want to get a seperate monitor for it as you can't fit a lot of tables on a laptop.

You need internet. Youre the boss. Youre paying for the internet. No one can "trace or monitor" you... other than that, buy a laptop, download the program, play poker.
Ive been using my laptop almost exclusively for months.

BUT i am not the administrator of the work computer, hence the reason I need a laptop. I am a federal contractor for the USPS, they give me my own computer to do whatever, but I am not the administrator of this computer. I can view almost any page over the internet however I can not download anything! This is the dilemma, how do I go around this?? *I saw someone use his cell phone one time to get internet access, what's this about?*
dsmrolla06--- daaaaaaaaaamn, a little more than i wanted to spend bro! nice taste tho.

Ok... here's what you need.
A laptop - any laptop, shouldn't matter what kind.
Talk to your local cell phone company about the options they have for computers. I work for a computer company here, and we see a number of laptops which have satellite modems. It's basically a cell phone which plugs into your laptop's card slot. I do know they are not cheap, and rarely can you find a reasonable plan.
Our local company for cell phones has a few packages, and I believe they start at about $80 /month + bandwidth (amount of data downloaded.) Typically, it is only valuable for businesses, as the bills often come to $300/month or more. It may be less for you as you're probably only using it for smaller amounts of data and 5 hrs per day, but I would look closely at any package offered.
If you need more info I can probably find out parts needed, but I suspect your local communications company can help you best. PM me if you want more help.

you can't download stuff, eh? I think this is your nail in the coffin more than anything. Of course theres ways around that....
You certainly could pay for satellite internet, but it doesnt tend to come cheap.

Any site with the Ongame network (Pokerroom, Hollywood, etc) have a java program. It's actually not very bad at all. No PT compatibility obviously but it does the job.
