I grew up not far outside of Mt. Airy, NC, which is the town Andy Griffith grew up in and is the town Mayberry was based on. Outside my bathroom window I can see Pilot Mountain, which is where the town "Mt. Pilot" came from in the show. There are shitloads of old fart tourists who come to take pictures of the shops on Main Street and of the statue of Andy Griffith and of the Andy Griffith Playhouse, and I hate them all.

So yeah, ask me about some shit.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Mt. Airy looks very very little like Mayberry from TV, and has about 10k residents atm, so it's not really a little ass crap town like it was depicted on TV (though it very well may have been whenever Andy Griffith was growing up). However, about 20% of the population were below the poverty line at the last census, and the median income for a household was $26,910, fwiw.

Thank fucking god no they do not go around whistling that shit.

I know two people from Mt. Airy named Opie who are both > 40 years old, but I don't know them well enough to answer the 2nd question.

Yes, but they don't know that I hustled the mayor of Mt. Airy for about $200 in one night at chess when I was 16. True story.
