I've got an HDMI out and stream random stuff on my TV. I used to have digital cable, but since my roommates who I shared the bill with moved out, the service was cancelled. (Something like $100 a month... def not worth it for me alone) I want something similar to Hulu, but I live in Canada. I would be willing to pay for a service if necessary, but am looking for something beyond regular streams. Is it possible to get some HD feeds via the internet? I mainly want to finish watching the NBA playoffs in HD.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know of anything like what you're asking for.
FWIW
I pay $100/month for HD cable via Cogeco. Best NHL/NBA Playoffs for me ever. I never thought I'd watch so little standard definition after implementing it.

netflix maybe? they allow you to stream anything you can rent from them. it sounds like you use your tv as another monitor, but if you didn't, and had a 360, you could stream through it to get it on your tv.

false on netflix, you can only stream a select few movies/shows you can rent. new releases and other stuff like that still have to be sent to you.
