Track Your Running, Measure Your Fitness, and Improve Your Training | RunKeeper

Really using the GPS to the max here. It is also available for the iPhone. Use an armband to strap your phone (GPS at this point) to your arm. RunKeeper will track your run using the GPS. Your distance, time, pace, etc. is recorded and sent to their website where you can analyze your stats. There is so much to work with on the website. Please, please, please download.

I like my tracks. I believe it was designed by google so is integrated with my maps

If you like puzzles I strongly recommend both these apps. If I was going to design an app both of these are very close to what I would have done. Both have free demo, and a pay version.
    Enjoy Sudoku
    Slitherlink

BTW, if you want to try a pay app, you can download and "pay", but if you uninstall within 24 hours you are not charged.

are you sure this is always the case? i thought it was on an app by app basis, and you had to email the developer for a refund withing 24 hrs?

Pretty sure it's google's policy. I paid for one app that seriously blew and uninstalled, it says you get a refund as you uninstall.

i dont play games on my phone much, but Angry Birds is fucking awesome. They put it up for free with ads until it hit 10 mill downloads or something, but i think thats over now. either way, there are over 150 levels and well worth a few bucks.

Cesto was the first (and is one of the only) multi-player games on the Android system. GOGOGOGOGO.

Gesture Search - search using swipe strokes (reminds me of palm interface) I use this to search contacts, easiest way I've found so far

Nerdy stuff (possibly repeats, one day I might organize a list):
    Astro - file browser
DiskUsage - shows which apps are taking up the most space visually
Battery Graph - tracks your battery power in garph form

swiggs, are you rooted? If so, download root explorer for your file manager needs. I think it may work if you aren't rooted also, you just wont be able to write to the root of the SD card, ldo.

I just tried out SkyDroid golf app this weekend and it is boss! The golf courses are mapped by community members so you have to play a pre-mapped course or map it yourself which only takes about 20 minutes the first time and probably 10mins if you stick to greens only. Graphics are good, think Google maps satellite images. Yardages are very good. You can map hazards, bunkers, trees, etc. The only think it doesn't do is keep score or find lost balls.
It will eat up your battery, if you leave the screen on all the time. I played a 5+ hour round on 50% batt. on my EVO by turning the screen off while not getting yardage. Totally worth the $1.99 I paid.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.

No, mostly time related. Plus my headphone jack is kinda sketchy and I keep kidding myself that I'll go to the store and try to exchange it.

The only I really want from rooting is to overclock

its really worth it if you are going to have your phone for even a few months more only. It probably took eme about an hour tops, and i was a nit with reading and re-reading everything.

Prob is it's not just an hour. It's an hour to root, but then 2 hours of playing and another 1-2 hours of making sure everything works.

I rooted my x and downloaded the superuser Milestone app which allows you to overclock. I don't really see the big deal. Maybe I didn't do things right, but I don't really see that big of a difference.

did you download a different kernal? You cant just overclock the stock kernal. Also, if SetCPU works on the X use that, its a better app for overclocking and you can set profiles to have your phone run slower when the screen is off or when its charging, etc.

Droid X 2.2 Overclock (Kernel Module w/Instructions) - Android Forums

The post at android forums lead me to believe that the app would clock the phone. From what I understand, if you want full control, you have to install the setscaling.sh script. Am I getting this right?

sorry, i should have mentioned i have a droid, not an X. Things are probably different, but it sounds like you have it figured out. I have my droid overclocked to 1.2 ghz and its night and day difference over the stock kernal.

The X is at 1ghz stock so maybe it's a slight difference that I don't notice. However, 1.45 is noticeable. Although, it has crashed a couple of times. Probably too high.

    Plenty of apps mentioned itt

I rooted the other day. Huge hassle for the original droid. Rommanger is a bucket of fail, so flashing the ROM that way is out. At least it's overclocked now.

Side note, I get to upgrade to a new phone in 1 month, woot!

definitely dont download the roms through Rom Manager. Download them onto your computer and transfer them. Then flash the rom through Rom Manager.

    Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide

I like springpad more than evernote, but it's going to come down to personal preference.

There is a new game called pewpew that's pretty fun

I recently tried the FullTilt app again, and it was only Play money this time.
I didnt bother sending them an email and asking why because there customer service sucks so bad, I really dont care to play there anymore.

couple new apps I have downloaded:
Camscanner...turn pictures into PDF files. works good
ColorNote....kinda like iPhone notes but better because its on a Droid.
facebook for droid app is actually really good now, I just wish I could close conversations I had with the chat feature.
PeaPod..shop for groceries from your phone(USA)...this is so fucking easy!
NFL mobile, a must have for Football Fans.

hmm, i've never had any problems with it. There should be an option in Rom manager to flash an alternate version of clockwork mod recovery. do that and then restart your phone. Pretty sure that will fix most issues.
