If I didn't know this guy first hand I would never believe it. A buddy of mine, Matt, was in Washington D.C. with his girlfriend Sara. Well he proposes to her and she says yes. They are all excited and just enjoying each others company while walking up the street. Randomly, a women drives up in an exotic car not for sale in America. She gets out and starts to talk to them. She says 'you guys are a cute couple and I would like to do something nice for you'. She pulls out her checkbook and writes them a check for ONE MILLION DOLLARS! They were completely stunned by this and weren't sure what to do. They accepted of course and the women went on her way. They went to the bank, half expecting this to be a joke but the teller informed them that the check was indeed real and there were sufficient funds to cover the check. The tellers actually told them it wasn't too uncommon for this type of thing to happen in D.C. Some people have all the luck.

Actually Matts dad is an editor of the Grand Rapids Press so I would think he'd write something up about it in the paper. If he does then I'll put an article up here.

i won't believe it until i see the money myself. tell him to send me a certified check or money order to me and when it clears i will immediately give it back to him, but i can tell everyone that it really did happen.

Ok, I'm calling bullshit on this one. I think your friend is joking with you. I'm sorry I'm never going to believe this. Even if my best friend told me this I'd call BS on him.

I heard a story just like this. Wasn't quite so drastic though. Like Sed mentioned...
Rich woman finds outs her husband is cheating on her. Takes his Porsche out, which is in her name as well, and sells it to some random dude for $1.

This was in England, a wife of a radio DJ got sick of her husband chatting up chicks on air, so she sold his Porshe on Ebay for $1.
Amazing what you read in the paper

The version I read was some guy and his wife are going through court in their divorce battle of who gets what. He has a Lamborghuini Diablo or some other insanely priced exotic car. His was wanted it so bad and it was starting to look like she was going to get that in their battle. So next court recess he walks outside and sells it to the first guy he sees on the street for $1.
I'm sure one of these stories has to be true to get all these variations going. If mine is a real one, this guy will forever be my hero. Stickin it to the ex-wife
BOO-YAH!! :P

How the fuck do you expect to hear of this when it just happened? I'm sure someone will run along and knock on your door to confirm the story for you over the next couple days. Just be patient.

i would think the woman was bluffing with her 'check for a million dollars' and check raised her on the turn.

Don't you think if this shit happened people other than the bank tellers would of heard about it..When this is all said and done I think you will realize what bullshit it is.....

Well, bank tellers process checks all day long. So, if this does happen they're most likely to know it and they know for certain that it's real. On the other hand, most of the people in this thread don't believe it. Those that do believe it may tell their friends, but how many of their friends will believe that they know a guy who knows a guy who was randomly given $1,000,000 on the street by some random lady? My point is, the only people who really believe it are the people who were involved, the giver, the receiver, and the person who processed the transaction. Most people don't believe them, and the ones that do aren't likely to be believe by many others. So, when a story like this spreads, it's assumed to be a false.
I'm not saying it's true or not. I'm just pointing out that bank tellers really are pretty much the only ones who could actually know wether or not that actually happens every once in awhile.
