Post subject: advice for a vegas virgin (sort of)

so im going to be in vegas this wednesday the 17th - sunday the 21st and although i've been before, i was only 16 years old, so im still a noob. i'll be at the MGM Grand with 3 of my friends who all party pretty hard if anyone else is in town this week.
what are the good rooms for me to play some $1/2 at? does the MGM have decent games? what clubs/bars should we check out? 3 of us are more "bar" type people and one loves clubbing. also, anyone have any hookups in vegas? it would be pretty key to get some chronic when we get there. PM me with that, post good advice for the rest.

i think my favorite room was ballys, idk why really, just like the environment i guess
small sample size but the best games were at venetian for me.. best looking card room i saw too

also, yes, mgm has a very nice card room too but check out as many as you can while you're there.. it's nice to see all the different flavors!

ya venetians card room was pretty nice, games were def soft. Only complaint is that the card room is very open to the rest of the casino. Sometimes its nice to have more of a true poker room.

1/2 is hit and miss all over the strip. If you're in a bad 1/2 game, go next door and rail another.
For 2/5 and 5/10 (and up):
Venetian, Bellagio (tend to attract stupid/care-free money, 2/5 is the smallest NLHE game at the Bellagio)
MGM (heard a lot, only railed and wasn't impressed)
Mandalay Bay (runs bigger games sometimes, the convention center can make them VERY good when they're good)
Wynn (all games uncapped gives the games a different feel)
Mirage (???)
It varies sooooo much based on who's playing what conventions are in town, etc. Find a game that looks good on the rail, sit and if it's nitty get a cab!

go to an average strip club, treat the strippers like dog shit, and have a "great time" for under $100.

OMFG, so true.
Bally's is a nice loose 1/2 room with good traffic. I was there on a light Vegas weekend and it was one of the only rooms that was usually near full.
MGM was nice a couple years back when I went. It used to be my favorite room when I stayed at the Luxor. Big room so game selection was good and it had its fair share of terrible players.
I saw Caesar's room the last time I was out there and they have done one hell of a job with it. Very nice. Although, since it is a dedicated poker room, walk-in/fish traffic is probably less abundant.
Bellagio is always packed. I assume it has plenty of regs.
As for bars/clubbing. The Palms and Hard Rock are probably your best bet. You might try asking any bartenders/waiters that you have about the best clubs. They usually know other people in their industry and can point you to the hot spots or sometimes know bouncer/bartenders/dancers that can get you a deal for bottle service/VIP or even free covers.

You can actually call some number to get the rhinos limo service to pick you up from your hotel, for free. And then they'll let you in, FOR FREE. yeah pretty nice. If i find out what the number is i'll post it here.

Yeah you can usually get free limo service to Rhino or Sapphire or wherever, the driver gets paid by the club to take you there. You can just ship him a normal tip. If your with enough people I recommend getting a table w bottle service at the strip club. If you ship the guy inside like a $20 he should find you a table pretty quick if you are buying at least a bottle.
Also, since your a virgin I recommend sex fwiw.

If you want to party at the Palms go to Moon or Ghostbar or go to the pool fri/sat morning but get there early.

Whenever I go to Vegas I usually have the best times playing poker and blackjack away from the major strip casinos. My favorite place is the Golden Nugget. Players are treated way better in these type of older casinos because they value your patronage a lot more.

Gotta go with Spenda here... have had a great time at Club Paradise but it cost mucho moola... go to a more downscale club, yes the girls aren't as nice looking but you get better mileage and have more fun, they are way less uptight.

When you say "place" you mean nicest strip club?
A tone of good places to go eat, a lot of the world's top chef's have restaurants in LV, you just have to be willing to pay for good food and typically great service.
