I decided to read around the forums a bit.

Now it seems like an infant 2+2, perhaps that’s unavoidable
|
Was it the Ripptyde situation that has caused this uproar?.
Did any of you despise 2p2 before this? (If so, why?)
Tough criticisms?
I would love to hear the problems with 2p2 throw them out at me. Specefic examples would be great. I am all ears.

We have no problem with 2p2's content, as it can't be beat. But FTR has always been known as being friendly and community-driven with as little assholes as possible.

Wait, I'm not sure if I understand correctly. If I want goot poker advice I should go to 2+2, instead of hanging around here?

Basically to put it simply FTR is friendlier but 2+2 have better meatloaf.
|
|
The strong point in poker is never to lose your temper, either with those you are playing with or, more particularly, with the cards. There is no sympathy in poker. Always keep cool. If you lose your head you will lose all your chips.

supermoney, if you stick around, you will understand what is going on. this is not the norm. stick to just the poker forums on this site for a little bit, then come back after a few days.

2+2 has better poker content, but ftr is more ginger and emo friendly. if only the two could merge, you would have the ultimate site.

2p2 is always full of flame wars andthe atmosphere just generally sucks. FTR is (usually) very friendly and the poker advice here is very good IMO. Also 2p2 is ugly and FTR looks awsome
2p2 has some very good posts but you have to wade through a lot of crap to find them.
2p2 regulars randomly flame noobs whereas we welcome them.
I have never liked the 2p2 forums, the Rippy thing hasnt changed my opinion. 2p2 acted exactly as I expected and FTR suprised me by copying them.
I do think the some of the content on 2p2 is excellent and I do read there a fair bit. Just cant be bothered to post anything.

I only lurk, but I find on 2p2 people are usually cool to you if you are cool to them. It's more like a place where you have to earn respect. And they attack poor poker harshly for the most part, which is a good thing if you are trying to get better. If you show disrespect to people there, especially if you are a newb, they jump on you quick and hard.
Just my observations. I like both places.

They learned us what 2+2 was in grade school before I graduated the 6th grade but I can't remember if it was 4 or 12.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

FTR is experiencing the same growing pains and is fast becoming exactly the same atmosphere as 2+2. Give it 6 months and there will no longer be much of a difference between FTR and 2+2.

You can't possibly believe that, dwarf. Have you no faith in me?
You really need to separate what you currently observe in IRC from what is visible in our forums.

1. I quit IRC for good many months ago when it became one big pissing contest, none of my comments refer to IRC since it is no longer associated with me, or FTR.
2. Of course I have faith in you, but there's only so much that even the best administrator on earth can do, a forum's natural growing pains will produce such things as what we are experiencing now, there's simply nothing you can do about it. I could go into more detail, but I smell and need a shower, brb.
