What was your reasoning behind posting it on 2+2, knowing that there is a greater number of harsh critics there?

If PMs from FTR guys expressing their gratitude is good enough for you, I don't see why you need to post it over there.

Well said, Rippy.

I was finding the 2+2 thread entertaining, and I don't know why UG locked the thread here 'cause I don't think anyone was trashing you, we were just enjoying the show, but whatever...

Welcome home?

Good question.

Rippy just doesn't speak the same language as a lot of us reguarding poker. For starters, he mostly plays stacks and has a good feel for chicken. This starts to come out when you get him past chest pounding and other results oriented spew.

Then come around to accept that he's probably a winning player. Then stop focusing on what he's doing wrong, that's too darn easy and start looking for the value he finds that makes up for all of that.

Finnally, a lot of his stuff works against weaker players. Strong, (mostly) cash players get the best of him. But weaker players are where all the money is anyway...

I think your over-reacting to the FTR thread.

I thought the person who locked it over reacted as well.

It was indeed incorrectly titled but no one in it was being a dick, and saying bad things about you, so I don't see what the problem is.

And I agree with your comments about the other forum.

Edit: And also I think you very rarely on FTR get criticized by anyone, most ppl here seem to enjoy your strategy.

The internet brings out the worst in some people. Also, how much do being a nice guy and playing well (enough to have something interesting to say) have in common?

Ripptyde might be a good or great player, dont know, dont really care.

But come on, why be a dick to a legitimatley nice forum member like that?

I have no respect for this kind of behavior in a person, poker skills or not.

This thread is un-lockable.

Ive decided if shit is gonna hit the fan, it'll happen here or no where else.

Though, I doubt shit will hit the fan since I dont really see the big issue here.

That thread was just pointing out the rippy was getting torn a new one over at 2+2, not to spread a rumor that he had left. UG locked it becuase he felt it was taking a negative spin and I respect his opinion on that (and didnt feel strongly enough to have it unlocked)

If Rippy ever opened his mind to the approach other winning players take to this game it could have a huge impact on his earn. Until that day comes along, you may as well be speaking greek.

Time durration is irrelevent. Stuff like number of entries and ROI is. The wins mean a lot to you personally, but are meaningless to your "critics."

Also, simulation and real world results have both shown WILD swings playing poker. Particularly with styles like yours.

If you are asking whether my statement was directly related to you, as a player, the answer is no.

rippy Im not talking shit, Im stating facts, so if you reply to this with some bitching and moaning then Ill just ignore you and this thread from now on.

5 mtt wins is NOT a lot. 11 ft's is NOT a lot. And according to thepokerdb, you could very well be a losing player over hte long term. Only you could tell us this for sure. But I believe reading that your ROI is just over 100%, and you have a totoal of like 45k winnings. So you have profitted 22.5k. Right? Wrong... We all know your preferred tournament is one with a rebuy structure. We all know you spend a lot of rebuys on average in the rebuy hour. So really, if you add in all the rebuys, and then factor in what youve lost at cash games (Im not talking shit, but I think its safe to say you are a losing player over the long run at cash games..?) And you really havent won that much, if any. So maybe you should relax on throwing your results in peoples faces as proof of your poker strategyies?

Again, take it for face value, Im not trying to talk shit, all Ive expressed is a possible conclusion that was reached through logical reasoning. If you want to bitch and moan and throw insults at me fine, but that will only further prove to me that the above is true.

I don't think it's safe to say either way. Also consider that I've seen him put in a lot of time at the lower levels ($25NL 6 max, $11 SnGs (many multi-table.)) Not enough data.

yes rippy, but... you got 13th, not 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th or 12th. Thirteenth. So we are having this discussion. If I didnt get one outted a month ago, my roll would be much healthier and I wouldnt be as upset over this terrible swing at sngs Im taking, but that didnt happen, so Im not gonna live my life in "what if" land. If you chose to, have fun.

I havent yet looked at that thread on 2+2 but I will. Most of the people here on ftr think that you have a lot of potential (myself included) but you really dont seem to have no idea what "a winning player" means. sure, we can talk about $$$ won in tournaments but when we reduce the tournament fees all that matters is our net income (or ROI). It's like saying that I have won 1ook in cash games this year but also lost 99k. I am totally with fnord here about keeping statistics and almost everything else too (and I dont agree with him a whole lot of time).

Also, it again seems to come back to br management, eventhough a player would be a winning player in long term if you dont respect any br management rules you will bust. period. you know that. I dont wanna borrow money for gambling, I think that is even worse than borrowing money for alcohol/drugs. Respect and understand variance and dont curse the "fish who call too much so that you cant win". If you win "the sklansky dollars" you win in the long run. sorry for this ramble but I really think that you should start to understand why so many people here (including me) are a bit sensitive about some threads of yours and some ideas of yours.

This all shit being said, your MTT guides, especially the first edition, when I started playing poker, have truly inspired me.

yes if you won 150k that would be huge... but what you obviously cant wrap your brain around is the fact that if you won that due to positive variance while making a -ev decision, then you still have lost in the long run. And if you continue after your big break to play the same you will eventually lose it. Youll lose it all, and then youll look like a fool.

Its just a like a black jack addict, or any other gambler. They are just waiting for taht hot streak, that big one, and then everythign will change, they keep convincing you, after that one big win everything will change. How will it change? If you are making -ev decisions and end up with 150k, how will anything change? Really unless you reevalute your game, and stop doing -ev things, that 150k will only turn right back into zero. Z-E-R-O.

Really, I think Im done after this post, I feel like this is the atheist vs theist thread... if you believe you can donk your fucking way to millions, have fun crashing and burning. IF you do make it, you still made a terrible decision and it doenst bother me. Ive lost all respect I ever had for you, you arent making any sense and sound like the classic person with a gambling problem. And its sad because you are selling your ideas as sound poker strategy. Some of them are fine, but put together they are -ev and amount to nothing more then gambling.
