Some people do that for a lot of sites.

You can probably get a spam link if you make any kind of typo while typing in yahoo or google.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

True, but I wonder if that's their purpose? I mean, are they shooting at the people who come here, hoping they'll mix up the order of words?

x -Hey, there's a good site called flopturnriver with a forum, check it out
y -Okay

10mins later at home
y -Now let's see, turnflopriver.com...oh? Partypoker? Let's sign up.

Or are they just registering all domains that have anything to do with poker at all? What other domains do they have?

They must be targeting this site. The name is too similar to FTR to be a coincidence.
I can't imagine many people signing up at PP after being tricked to go there though. I wonder what the PP people think about this--it's probably against the affiliate agreement.

For example www.goooogle.com :P redirects to a YOU'VE WON IN A VIRTUAL CASINO! pop-up ad.

www.gooogle.com redirects to Google anyway, as does www.yahooo.com with Yahoo.

It was only recently registered in January of this year.

That is VERY suspicious.

www.gogle.com directs you to google. But www.goggle.com gets you to a spam site.

Along the lines of the "picking up domains just because" like of thinking... I used to run a website that got a fairly decent traffic load - up to 1000 hits a day w/o the forum. Our sponser was a guy in Australia and for some reason he went MIA for about three months just a bit before the renewal came due. Naturally, someone snatched it up and has since refused to return the domain to us for less than a couple hundred bucks.

Even if it's legitimate business, people doing that piss me off.
I run a training site...

Check out strategy videos at GrinderSchool.com, from $10 / month.

How unrealistic is it to think that someone who WANTED ftr.com had to settle for TFR.com since his first choice was already taken?

Heh I know this post is VERY old... but just to let you know that google ploy doesn't work now.

I actually typed in turnflopriver instead (half asleep) and google pointed me to this post, which was rather nice. LOL.
