Hey Renton I think we are both on essentially the same path right now. Although I am albeit behind with $2k.

I was wondering if you'd like to have a friendly competition to see who can get to $10k first. I think it would be good motivation for both of us.

Let me know what you think.

P.S. Should you choose to accept my challenge I can take no responsibility if I bruise your ego beyond repair

This is a really cool post. I think I'll have to try something along these lines when I get a bigger BR. Great idea.

Alright, you're on. We'll put fifty bucks on it. So actually, it will be a race to 9950. Then the loser completes the winner's 10k.

You need your own thread parallel to Renton's so the rest of us can watch the race.

If you make the race public and make the earnings somehow verifyable, I'll start a thread for side-bets.

May the biggest whore win. :P

I am ok with going on faith.

Its impossible to prove anything because the money is so spread around. I will probably have money in five accounts simultaneously by that point.

I will start a thread in just a bit let me just try and make sure we have some base rules set down. You tell me if these sound good.

-First to reach $10k bankroll by means of Poker, Bonus Whoring, Casino Whoring, and/or rakeback.
-Screenshots with that day's CNN's frontpage in the background for any account where some of the final $10K ($9950) is. ex Screen shot of neteller with CNN in the background.
-At least a weekly post documenting progress towards the $10k and sources of the money

Other than that I think we should be good to go. I'll begin my own thread in just a little bit (Gotta finish up a bonus ).
Currently at UB playing $50 NLHE 6max.
Bankroll: ~$1900 (Almost BR'ed for 100NL.)

Renton's Whoring Adventure Day 28... (of 91)

Today sucks.

I took a shot a 100nl and got owned, over and over and over again. Some of it was bad luck, some of it was bad play. I had made a few bucks in the first few days since my last post, clearing the Paradise Bonus and etc. but today was the day the music died. In other news, I did some work trying to begin clearing the Martins Bonus, and losing about 200e in the process. I hate that site, the players are too good, I suck too much, and until further notice I am giving up on that sweetass Bonus.

Today humbled me, perhaps more than I have ever been humbled at a poker game. I have been playing seriously for a couple months now, after a few months of learning and reading poker books, and until now, I haven't had such a horrible day. I guess I am back to 50nl, so I can build up to where I once was.

Renton's Whoring Adventure Day 47...

The bonus adventure has taken somewhat of a hiatus as of late. I have been learning new games and new stakes, and as a result have been spinning my wheels. The past two weeks have been break even for me. Its been really depressing and at times unbearable, but I think I am pulling out.

I played 2k hands of 100nl full ring on party today and yesterday, and I am really becoming more confident in my play. I have run 10bb/100 over these 2k hands, and i don't think I am running that hot. Sure there were some good situations, but at the same time, I got setunderset several times, and KKvsAAed a couple of times. AA sucked out on by someone who called a massive preflop raise with 37, etc. etc. Point is, I think I am really starting to beat this game, after weeks of anguish.

As for my shorthanded game, I am getting much better. I still can't beat it at the 100 dollar level, but I am very confident that I can beat it. I have since decided to move back to the full ring fold, as i feel it is a much lower variance game (if less profitable).

In whoring news, I am grinding slowly through the jetset bonus (still like 3/4 of the points left to earn). Also I am about halfway done with the riverbelle bonus. Today I completed the 10x Party reload bonus, and my bankroll is on its way back up. I have since given up on the b2bs. I felt outplayed at b2b, and would like to improve my game a little more before returning.

I also wanted to mention something that Pelion made a thread about. We are going to try to have cashgame session reviews. Basically just two people who are trying to get better at the stakes they play will trade relevant hand histories for their cash game sessions. I was wondering if one of you who is also somewhat new to 100nl would like to do this with me.

Renton's Ring Adventure Day 55 ...

Wow. Things are really really good. As of now, the whoring adventure is taking a hiatus. This is now the Renton's Ring Adventure until further notice. I have come to the conclusion that the softness and table availability of PartyPoker far outweighs an inherent advantage in bonus whoring at other sites. This doesn't mean that I won't continue to whore. I have outstanding bonuses at Jetset and Riverbelle that I have been chipping away at.

I have been beating the 100nl full ring game on party. I am a longterm winner I feel, as I am 7ptbb/100 over 15k hands, and 3.5ptbb/100 over 22k hands (this is including my horrible run at 6 max that didn't work out). Today I tried to play 8 tables at once. It worked out great and I plan on doing that from now on I think. I have made a whole shitload of money in that last week by my standards.

My bankroll is very healthy now. I have 35 buyins for the 100nl stakes. I will probably continue to play 100nl until I get to 5k and then I might begin to dabble in 200nl. I want to have a solid foundation before I move up, though.

This is definitely a case of me not trusting my read and in retrospect playing the hand badly. But anyway, this thread is about Renton and his current streak of tearing up 100 NL on Party.
Nice hand Rent, your river bet really convinced me I was beat, but I'm still not good enough to get away from it. As for the other dozen hands you've owned me in...well that's another story u bastard.

Renton I am hijacking your thread to spread todays misery! But at least you're in all these hands.
Alright, so here's the setup. I've been running relatively bad for the past couple days, but finally got my stack up on this table and have been playing a good lag style that's messed most of the table up. Until Renton shows up and ruins all the fun.

Hand 1.

Renton's Ring Adventure Day 57 ...

My third session of 8 tabling Party 100nl went swimmingly. Actually thats an understatement. I made more today than I have every made in one day of poker. I ran 20ptbb/100 for 3.5 hours (about 1600 hands), pocketing about 700$.

Today is a very special day. My thread has reached epic lengths (2 pages now), and I am now officially rolled for 200nl by the 20x rule. I don't think I will move up quite yet though. Please post opinions on whether I should move up. My plan is to keep on keeping on until I reach 5-6k.

Nice job renton. I would wait will about 5-6k before moving up, but if you want to take shots, then it's fine. Also, you should really consider moving over to 6-max.

Renton, I'm kinda in the same spot like you, but stuck in 4-tabling. It's comfortable and I can fit in 4 tables w/o overlap. Did your winrate drop at all when you added more tables? I guess it will, but I also guess another screen would pay itself pretty quickly. Any thoughts? How many hands/day do you play?

I generally play 2-4 hours sessions daily. I play about 500 hands/hour. The quality and style of my play and winrate didn't change. However, I am pretty tight (14.5/8.5). I am fairly confident that I can make between 50 and 80 bucks an hour 8 tabling the 100nl full ring on party.

How do you coordinate that? You plug in another monitor and have 4 on each? Always wondered about that as I struggle to 3 table on my cute little laptop :P

Hope you pulled things together today.

No it still sucks. I did just win a 3 way all in and now I am back up a few bucks

Yes I run two 20 inch monitors. I had to buy a new video card to get a second slot.

I am such an impatient bastard. Today I ran 8 tables of 100nl and caught some seriously bad beats. Two outer, flush draw all in that hit, etc. etc. and it sucked. I didn't tilt though. I just took a little break, closed all my tables and regrouped.

Then I said, "fuck it, I am rolled for 200, lets play 200." I fired up 8 tables and it sucked. I ran bad for about an hour, made some bad bluffs that didn't work out and had to fold AA on the flop twice. After the first hour I was down one buyin.

Then things just started clicking everywhere. I ran ridiculously well for 3 hours after that and it was good. This is really weird, because I have run bad every time I have first moved up to a new NL level. The next post will provide first hand footage of todays domination.

Oh ya, my bankroll is past 5k now.

Renton's Ring Adventure Day 60 ...

Yesterday I ran ok, and made a cool 300 bucks.

Pretty good day today. After running horrible for two hours (three set<sets in 1.3k hands), I turned around and had a great day, making over 750$ including the latest party reload bonus.

honestly, I am still waiting (expecting) for whatever deity rules the universe to take a giant crap on my chest and cause me to realize this is just a big fluke and I actually suck.

I have heard that is highly possible to run good over large samples of hands (30-40k).

vn renton.... i think you have the game cracked and have a vn solid game)... but yeh even if you were running exceptionally good for a large sample you should be fine seeing as you study your own game and will be looking for leaks, you'd realise and plug/tweak anything soon enough.
Experimenting - 200NL 5max.

You're kicking ass. Awesome stuff dood.
Oh by the way, what's the deal with the party bonus? I read the details and nowhere it says that you have to reload, just that you have to get 150 points in a day. Any chance you can fill me in on the deal there?

Thanks,
Rav.

I don't really know. Since I play massive amounts of hands/hour it didn't take me but a couple hours to clear it.

Renton's Ring Adventure Day 61 ...

Another best day ever. I just keep on having these. Only made one bad call all day (bottom set vs nut str8, still had 30% equity when we were all in). Other than that I played great I think. In whoring news I cleared the other party reload bonus for 100 bucks.

I am almost rolled for 400nl. I think there will be a significant jump in skill there, so I wanna beat 200nl over at least a 25k sample before I get carried away and move up.

I talked with a few peopl in IRC about this. Raising the flop is probably the safest bet, but I usually am willing to give up a little pot equity for a chance to stack two players. Is this a bad strategy?

just in general, if the board is really dry its fine, but when the board is coordinated in anyway way, someone with a nice hand (overpair, top two) might be scared of giving you action if a bad card comes off.

like in that hand, ignoring the guy with the flush draw, if a club comes off then the guy with top two pair isn't going to put all his money in.

with that said, i think its a good idea to slowplay it against good players to mix it up sometimes.

Renton's Ring Adventure Day 70 ...

Ran terrible all weekend. Ran good tonight. In other news, I took a shot at 400nl on sunday night. It was ok, but I am still more comfy at 200nl. I will probably move up when I have around 12k or so.
