Going to keep a journal/blog of what is going on so hopefully it will make me more accountable for things and motivate me to work harder and do more.
I just landed in the UK today and the whole journey was just brutal. The whole day back in NYC I was packing and moving shits out and cleaning so the person I sublet my place to can move in. I got sick the night before because my gf kept insisting on sleeping with the windows open. Flying overseas while sick is not fun.
Once I landed in Heathrow and got to immigrations it got worse. They kept me there for two hours questioning the shit outta me. All diff kind of questions. They searched me and searched all my bags. I think the thing that made it suspicious was I had a one way ticket and the amount of cash. I was carrying about $5k, which I thought was okay since 10k+ is what raises suspicion right? I mean i never looked into it just going by what I heard. But anyways they kept asking why did I bring so much cash and why only one way, how long will I stay, etc. Eventually they called up my family in England who are UK citizens and talked to them and took their info down and finally let me go. Not sure what I wouldve done if I were to get turned back. They gave me a 6 month visa so I gotta figure something out within these six months...either a way to stay here longer legally or some other country to go to or something.
Tomorrow I will start trying to get things done that will enable me to activate my stars account again. Gonna try to get a utility bill then a bank account then neteller. Not sure what kind of problems I will run into. I am hoping to be up and running on pokerstars within 2 weeks.
In the meantime, not really sure what I can be doing to be productive. I took most of my BR out of the US sites..left only like $350 so I might dabble with that for now....the plan is once I get my utility bill + bank account, I will probably sign up for a Euro site and bonus whore there for a bit until PS things go through....after reading about people's stories on 2p2 it seems it takes awhile for PS to approve your account even after getting your documents so in the meantime I would definitely prefer grinding in a euro site than on sites that still take ppl from the US.
These six months will pretty much be my final attempt at online poker. If I am not successful, I will move back to NYC and put my college degree to use and look for an entry level position for a 9-5 job (ofcourse still play online here and there). Everything and everyone I know is back home in NYC. My gf (well ex now) and I broke up. We both agreed that long distance would not be a good idea for both of us. It wasn't easy by any means. Leaving all that and grinding for a entry level salary is not worth it. If I cant make atleast 1.5-2x what I would make from a job back home, then I will seriously consider different options.

Hah I got that same bullshit coming into England on a ferry from France few years ago. I was supposta fly out of London to Dublin. Even had a return ticket. But they gave me a bunch of shit and didn't like my answers to their questions so they deported my ass back to France!
Anyways good luck with your journey sir.

IMO a big reason they questioned you so much was because of the one-way flight. If I ever have to move for poker, I'm always getting round trips no matter what, even if I don't intend on using the flight back home.

do you have to play stars? have you thought about one of the ipoker sites and get straight onto a 50% rakeback type deal.If you did it through someone like william hill or paddy power you could go into one of their betting shops (both have 3 or 4 in your area)and see if you can open a $ account with them and then deposit cash at the counter. would save you the currency exchange costs and transfer fees from neteller etc.put a bit on neteller/moneybookers once you get bank account sorted and deposit with that as well and then you can then get money onto (and back to) neteller/moneybookers from your ipoker account.
Alternative is to see if you can open a $ account as well as a £ account at high street bank to deposit your $ , and then transfer living costs from your $ account to £ account

Welcome to a cold, wet and windy country. If you're hanging around in London with little to do for a few weeks there's worse places you could be. I love London. And if you're still here for spring the west is beautiful and fun. Also, from what I hear, our standard supermarket food is way tastier than yours, ie fruit and cheese etc. I have no idea where I'm going with this, bored at work, but gl.

claim political asylum from a repressive regime which is actively preventing you from exercising your democratis right to play poker. SHould get you 5 or 6 years whilstthe extradition process is under way. Should then give you time to find new GF and get married.

does mobile phone account count. Orange you can get free landline internet as part of some packages.which may cover the utility bill side of things.

look for a good affiliate for euro sites, don't take the website standard sign up. much better deals to be found through affiliates if you look around.

thanks everyone for the support guys..
keith...those are some good advise...i actually spoke to ladbrokes. there is one right around the corner from where i am. They said I can deposit onto their sportsbook via cash (even USD), then transfer over to their poker wallet, play online poker, then when I want to withdraw...i move the money onto the sportsbook again and i can withdraw at the local ladbrokes...all i would need for this is my passport...no utility bill or bank account needed....im guessing william hill/paddy would work the same way? would you recommend those sites more than ladbrokes? I am going to PM you with further info.

will hill could well be best to avoid atthe moment as they have problems with their support staff being on strike in israel.....could mean sorting any problems out could take some time .
ladbrokes is on microgaming . check out pokerscout for traffic numbers.
Major factor in choosing a site is what stakes and game (full ring/6max/sng/mtt) you are playing.
wherever you play read this thread to geyt an idea on currency issues atthe table. Important info for iPoker players - Internet Poker - Online Poker Forum
also watch the currency you create an ipoker account in. and which currency tables you play. The rake is capped at 3 currency units , so capped at 3$ or 3£. SO on £ tables you will be paying half as much rake again in capped pots as a $ table.

Today I spoke to the gas/electric company of this house and was able to get my name added onto the utility bill. The rep said I would receive a mail by the end of the week which would suffice as a proof of residency. The rep was surprisingly friendly and helped out quite a bit. First I was trying to change the name and then add a line and he kind of got the idea that it was for residency purposes. He recommended these steps instead (i wasnt even aware I can just add my name to the current bill) and said he would send out the mail asap. He was very pro american (most of my family and people i met here are not) and asked about new york and how he always wanted to visit but never really got the chance. Overall it went well.
I decided to go with ladbrokes poker in the meantime since it is the closest and no bank account is required. Based on what keith said and his thread, I am not sure how much it effects ladbrokes since they were mostly talking about ipoker. I will just assume it is the same but will do more research. My account is set up and everything but they do not accept USD. I went to the post office to convert some money but the rate they offer is total crap so I didn't. After doing a bit of research, it seems marks and spencer are known to do good exchange rates. I will head there later in the day and hopefully change all my money. Anyone know a better place to exchange money around here?
Landed here on the 3rd. 7th now. 4 days and still not a single hand of poker played yet.

Yeah m&s is by far the best place I've found for currency conversion. You need a biggish branch though and sometimes the currency exchange is hidden away in an obscure corner and there is practically no advertising of its existence.

If you are interested in another option for a site you can send me a PM and we can chat on skype. It's launching soon or w/e but already has quite a bit of traffic from the insane amounts of freerolls they are running daily.

Fri/Sat a lot got done in terms of getting online poker set up...as keith mentioned...i got my monitor and it makes suchhh a big difference having a monitor and two screens to grind vs just one laptop...utility bill also came in and I was able to get my bank account today, tho they didnt let me get a foreign USD account
I sent in all the info to the sites that still accepts US players that I had money on and they already approved everything so I can now deposit/withdraw via moneybookers/neteller...woooot.
I have been talking to keith quite a bit and his been helping me and giving me advice about many diff things. Through him I joined ipoker and as of right now I am enjoying it. Thinking about putting in some more money when I can and grinding there for a bit....I still havent sent my stuff to stars....I'm not sure when I will send it or how the VIP thing works. Do I have until end of this yr to hit supernova? If so I doubt I would make it and dont wanna lose my status. If that is the case, I am thinking about grinding on ipoker till end of the year and see how that goes. If it doesnt go well then I can set it up and start grinding Jan 1st from stars and get a boost in and hit 200k VIP easily (I have about 55k VIP there ATM). First Im gonna talk to stars and then figure out what I'll do.

2 screens is the shit.. I just bought a 30inch and tried using it alone (had two 22's before), and I ended up hooking up one of the 22's to maintain the dual setup within a day. you won't be able to go back to a single screen after guaranteed.
and rofl @ getting caught in the fap. hope your pokering goes well dude. gl.

It will get worse when you find people who play pro evo instead and then have to relearn the game.

lol this is hiloarious. So you've only been living with this family for like 2 weeks or w/e and you've already been caught wanking to porn. Be greatful it was an older cousin and not like a 13yr old I guess. Also, wtf to walking in to someones bedroom without knowcking. You were in your bedroom and not the living room, right?

Update:
Currently I am waiting for Stars to call me and verify my landline phone number. They have accepted all other documents I gave and this is the last procedure that is left.
In the meantime, I have been playing at High Pulse Poker. I deposited 140 euros. Lost like 100 euros on the overlay donkaments. Jeez i play n run bad on those. Currently I have around 500 Euros there from mostly playing 10NL/25NL 6max. The site is too buggy and the traffic is too low. Its the same people on all tables 25NL+. I might play here and there on HPP or on the American sites until this stars thing gets approved. Hopefully they call by this weekend and I am up and running.

Gl L Clan. Hope the stars thing works out. Playing on a low traffic site myself but at least the regs are terribad and seem to not mind redepositing, but I'd love to be playing on stars again.

Pokerstars just called and woke up me...surprised they called so quickly. They asked me a buncha security questions. Afterwards she said shes gonna pass this along and they will let me know within 7 days if I am reinstated or not. For some reason, that made me nervous hearing it. Their is a chance that I might not be approved? I thought the phone call was the last verification step. 7 days is a long time. Hopefully I am up and running before the full 7 days.

The most annoying thing was shoot and lob buttons switched, so you'd get put through in a 1on1 and hoof it over the bar if you forgot to change the button layout.

Also, one of the old classic fifa games was amazing. Not sure which one, but the l2 button or w/e would make players make forward off the ball runs.

Withdrew from other sites sites so should be in MB within 48 hrs. Gonna start off at 50NL FR and once I am used to it and confident, will do mixed 50NL/100NL table selecting.

that my friend is one sexy single session graph. and coincidentally it displays roughly 10 times my lifetime profit at 50nl 6m over roughly 1/10 the amount of hands.

This hand is from the session I just did. It was against someone who I initially thought was a fish but then he joined a few of my tables and seemed just like a laggy reg who isn't too good. We have been tangling a bit on other tables, with him taking most of it down without a showdown.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed) -
MP1 ($35.75)
MP2 ($39.45)
CO ($17.75)
Button ($68)
SB ($19.50)
BB ($127.45)
UTG ($40.75)
Hero (UTG+1) ($50)
Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with ,
1 fold, Hero bets $1.50, 5 folds, BB calls $1
Flop: ($3.25) , , (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.05, BB raises to $6.50, Hero calls $4.45
Turn: ($16.25) (2 players)
BB bets $9.50, Hero raises to $20.50, 1 fold
He is defintely capable of bluffing on the flop but most likely has a PP. Never AKs. I think my flatting range on the flop and raising the turn here looks incredibly strong. I think this is the perfect turn card to do this to. Not sure if this is spew thinking?

I'm getting used to timing tells more...especially with fish. Their timing tells are almost universal. Fun hand I played last session. I snappppped river knowing I was good.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (8 handed)

UTG+1 ($31.35)

SB ($18.25)
Preflop: Hero is MP2 with ,
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero bets $2.50, CO calls $2.50, 4 folds

CO ($29.25)
Preflop: LuckboxHero is Button with ,
3 folds, MP2 bets $1.50, 2 folds, LuckboxHero calls $1.50, 1 fold, BB calls $1
Flop: ($4.75) , , (3 players)
BB checks, MP2 checks, LuckboxHero bets $3, BB calls $3, 1 fold
Turn: ($10.75) (2 players)
BB checks, LuckboxHero bets $6.75, BB raises to $15, LuckboxHero raises to $40.40, BB calls $9.20 (All-In)
River: ($59.15) (2 players, 1 all-in)
Total pot: $59.15 | Rake: $2.90
Results:
LuckboxHero had 2 , 2 (four of a kind, twos).

Just took a shot at 100NL. Lost 4 buyins. Wasn't a good session at all. KK ran into AA and got luckboxed a few times. Ev was around -90.
Table selecting was harder (obv gets harder the higher u get) so wasnt able to get my full amount of tables for most of the session. Also could be that I was playing at 11am WET time. The regs are much more aggressive and fight for the small/medium pots that 50NL regs don't seem to. Also, isolating fish is harder since 100NL regs actually play back when its super obvious your trying to iso a fish IP.
Will play 50NL for rest of the day. Might try another shot tomorrow depending how confident I am feeling...if not then maybe later this week or next weekend.

Been playing on HPP for awhile now. Overall its been going good but just had a crappy session. Lost about 500 euros.
The main hand, villain and I were about 500BB deep at 50NL. I had KK and I 4bet and he flatted OOP. Flop was 456 two clubs. I made it €54 and he C/R jammed for €150ish more. I tanked and called and he had 55. I don't have much experience 200BB+ let alone 500BB. I wish the site saved HH so I can post and get some opinion but it doesn't even save HH to hard drive.
Pokerstars is suppose to announce something big soon. I hope its some kind of their own version of rush poker...would be sweet.

lots of demand for HEM to support HPP on their forum and i guess its probably the same for PT as well.If no hand histories saved to hard disc thats tending to imply screen scraping is going to be needed which means lots of developement work. I think HEM and PT developers are busy thrashing out current bugs in the new software rather than developing extra support for HPP
