Because of some recent changes at HPP, I will no longer be playing there. Back to Stars for me. Because of my relocation, I started the year off with 54k VPP. I did some calculations to figure out how much effective RB I would be getting under the new WC method.

From 54k-100kVPP, at .015 FPP value and stellar bonuses, I would be getting around 40% RB (~45% under dealt). This does not include any reload bonus, quarterly freerolls or anything.

From 100k+ (without hitting 200k), I would be receiving around 31% RB (~34% under dealt).

It's quite a big hit to RB under the new system.

I am going to grind at stars for now and take advantage of the pace bonus and happy hours until I hit 100kVPP. After that, I will re-evaluate and see if staying on stars is more profitable than bonus whoring on some other Euro site.

On the brighter side, ran quite hot today at 50NL FR. Was up about 12 buyins. Good way to start the year off

Happy New Years Everyone! May we all run as hot this year as I have ran today

Oh right resolutions! Hmmm if I had to list them, these would be it:

1) Start doing doing atleast 30hrs a week of grinding. Currently I am probably averaging 25. Which is total crap considering how much of a social life I lack after moving to this country. My focus drops exponentially after about 2.5hrs of grinding. Goal is to do two 2.5 hr sessions and throw in a random hour so at night, 5 times a week and hit that 30 hrs a week goal.

2) Start cooking and eating out less. When I lived in NYC, my diet mainly consisted of Subways. Only reason because my family owns one and its about a 30 second walk from my apartment building. If I wasn't eating subways, it was usually take out or something. I do not have the luxury of having a subways right at the corner anymore and eating take out everyday is very unhealthy and gets quite expensive, hence this resolution. I have been getting better at cooking tho still a long way to go. This is the last thing I cooked: Salmon and some roasted veggies.

3) Spend about 20-30 minutes cleaning, daily. Since I lived alone in NYC, my ex gf would be over all the time and she would take care of most of the cleaning. Do not have that luxury anymore. I realize 20-30 min daily is about all that is really needed. I'm trying to throw the cleaning in when I'm cooking or right afterwards.

4) This is optional...for now. It's to go to the gym and excercise some. I'm not making it a primary one right now because I don't wanna get overwhelmed which would lead to failing other resolutions. Once I have 1-3 down as a habit, I will implement number 4.

Thats all I can think of for now....Wish me luck!

I read your posts about the RB changes. Where are you going to play now? Isn't ipoker changing to the "essence" system or something?

its a version adjusting the rake ....how it will play out I have no idea. Going to clear the rest of this titan bonus initially - already cleared the HEM and months cardrunners but its still going to be better than silver star.

Saw in the lobby yesterday Titan also have a 10k freeroll early next month for any skrill(moneybookers) deposits this month. made it to level 4 in ~8days play and $10.5 in the beginners tables raked hands races in the first 2 weeks.

In addition to the current methods of calculating rake (dealt, contributed and proportional), a new rake calculation will be available on the iPoker network—adjusted.

It distributes rake based on a player’s contribution to the pot and a score calculated by a proprietary algorithm. While appearing like an Essence-esque approach to rake calculation, iPoker's adjusted method is more transparent and still provides players with high rates of return.

The adjusted rake calculation, which is expected to come into effect early next year after the network unveils a new round of software updates, is based on the following equations:

Player's Score = (Contribution Percentile * Contribution Weight) + (Income Ratio Percentile * Income Ratio Weight)
Score Ratio = (Player's Score) / (Sum of Scores),
Adjusted Player Rake = (Original Player Rake) * (1 – Adjusted Rake Weight) + Score Ratio * Game Rake * Adjusted Rake Weight
Contribution Percentile is between 1 and 100, where top positive contribution receives a score of 100 and lowest receives a score of 1.
Contribution Weight is a percentile to adjust the Total contribution of the player.
Income Ratio Weight is a percentile to adjust the Total Income of the player.
Income Ratio Percentile - calculation for positive and negative contributors is done separately. Here positive and negative is used in the sense of players contributing positive or negative in favor of the licensees. Total Contribution = Total Wins – Total Bets + Total Rake
Sum of Scores is calculated from all players’ score, whose rake contribution is > 0, i.e. the player with Original Player Rake > 0.
Original Player Rake is the player contribution rake according to the distribution method.
Game Rake is the total rake in the hand.
Adjusted Rake Weight is the rake percentage to be adjusted.

The scoring calculation is based on cash games only. Tournaments activity has no impact on scoring.

Haven't updated this in awhile. Shortly after the last update, I started playing at HPP again. I am glad to say that I have kept up with resolutions 1-3 (30 hrs weekly min, eating out less and keeping the place tidy), number 1 being most important. The fact that the site lacks HEM support or HH discourages me from updating here. I want to put up HH or graphs but cant seem to do it. I keep track off wins/losses via excel lol, so no pretty pictures.

I try to do as many tables as I can, up to 9. As most euro sites, the site is almost exclusively 6m games. I mix in ring games, tournies, and even some PLO, between 25 and 50 euro stakes.

What made me want to update this blog today was I played my biggest hand in terms of bb today. It was at 25PLO. The pot was €328, a little over 1300bb. I'm glad the site does not have a max cap buyin. Took a ss of it:

This week probably has been the best week so far money wise since I have moved to this country. Mainly because I took down a tourney and FT a diff one. Hope it continues like this. Will try to update this blog weekly.

I just won the biggest pot of my poker career right now. I was playing against a bad reg HU 100NL. I have played a shitload against him and have solid reads. We ended up playing deep for hour and a half.

Biggest pot I won: $1300
Total profit that session: $1600

Think this is will be my last session of the week. Gonna take rest of the night and tomorrow off and just relax. Start up fresh again on Sunday. Turned out to be a really good week. I was $1k+ from tournies this week along with pretty good cash results but this HU session right now just put me over the top.

I guess the big question is .....do you head home after the 6months is up, or do you tour europe for the next 12months, or can you get some sort of student visa to stay where you are. Will there be any poker sites left when you get home?

No clue to all those questions. Not sure if I can extend my visa but will try. With everleaf gone, Merge might be next and just seems risky. I donno what I would do if I had to go back to the states and there were no sites to play at. Probably just lynch myself. Or worse, get a 9-5.
