This thread is to keep track of my now starting poker career and to be able to get advice from FTR people.
History: I turned 18 on 17th November and been reading poker books and playing freerolls for about a month till I decided to try it with my own money. I first deposited 100$ at bet365 and lost it after three days, playing some Cash Rings & SNG. I stopped for three days and then I redeposited 200$ wich I busted after 10 days, this second time I learned three important things:
- Don't get angry on bad beats
- I like more SNG's than Ring
- Fold more, I repeat: FOLD MORE
I said to myself that I didn't really like BET365 (was playing there because of a friend) so I tried PartyPoker, I deposited 1xx$ to try it, I won some and lost some but I went on tilt on a MTT and bought 17 rebuys so I went broke again, later I found out that the tournament fee's where very high (6 SNG = 5+1) so farewell PP and decided to try PokerStars. Deposited 100$ and I haven't looked back, I've been playing there for the last week and I like the fee's, the players and the turbo SNG's speed (Fast but not as crazy fast as BET365). I then decided to deposit another 600$ for the 25% bonus.
Goals:
1. To become a winning SNG and MTT player
2. To regain my 500$ lose on other rooms
3. To clear the bonus 50+150$ bonus before march
The Plan:
1. Play as many 6.5$ Turbo SNG as posible and ocasionally some 4$-6$ MTT's
2. Move up to 16$ SNG's when I hit 1500$ BR
3. Classify every week to Sunday Millions.
Initial BR: $655
1 January 2007: $699
2 January 2007: $527
All the help will be appreciated, and happy new year to everyone!

Good luck guy. The only advise I can give right now is not to worry about how much you are down from your initial deposits, focus on learning and playing your best - you're judgement gets clouded when you worry too much about the big picture during a single event.

Thanks for the advice, I do not care about the amount I can lose while learning, but to start earning first I need to recover the cash i've lost.

Hello!
Well i've played 4 SNG's today and I'm happy so far.
1th: Won
2nd: Second (comeback after a bad beat from 200 chips to chip leader then lost to a bad beat on Heads Up)
3rd: OOM - I'm such a donk, I was clearly beat by a Flush on the river when I had Top Pair with K Kicker. I should have folded but instead I raised his small bet and he put me all in and I called. (First hand of SNG)
4rt: Won - Very well played. I had some bad beats three times that chopped my stack (AQ vs 76 and 6 on the river) a bit, but I finally got to heads up and won. (He was bad)
Would have been a perfect day if I learned to FOLD MORE. Let me repeat myself: FOLD FOLD FOLD, people don't bluff at this SNG level's much especially on first levels...
Now I'm off to work!

Had a bad day today, I couldn't win anything:
Had 6 bad beats in total wich dropped me out of the money on SNG's and MTT's when I was almost there.
Worst thing was AK cracked three times to single Queen. Yes, they floped 2 queens all the time I went all in.
Dropped 50$ in a MTT where I was doing good, was on top 50 with 2000 players and a player that had been playing crazy with normal hands cracked my AA on the river for all in with J8... FLOP: A J 8 - 3 - J and I left a while.
Played some small MTT's, out in 8 position two times due the AK thing.
I hope I will do better tomorrow. Dropping 20% of BR in one day isn't fun.
New BR: $527

Before going to bed I joined a ring game while waiting for one of the many sattelites I play daily for the 1 Mill guaranteed (11$ buy in).
I turned 25$ into 88$ within 100 hands. I ran hot on sets, AJ-AA turning sets or flushes. It was so sick I had to leave. I even won some crazy bluffs people tried going ALL IN with things like AJ and T9...

First of all, I wish you nothing but the best and I fully expect you to do well with your operation. Quick question with this though:

If this were the case, you'd win the hand with aces full of jacks, right?

I can't remember exactly the hand, but I know I had AA and he beat me, I think he had JJ, I can't remember exactly, but it was a huge bad beat. I really need to buy poker tracker

BR down to 456$ today. I played and won some SNG's and got 6th on a 180 MTT. Unlucky me on the rebuy MTT's, I need to fold more and play more aggresive.

If you're serious about recovering, the first thing is use good BR management(see sticky in the beginners section). I don't see anything in your posts regarding this. You can play perfect poker and still go busto without having the roll to play whatever stakes you're playing at. For example you don't want to be throwing ~10% of your roll at one tournament. You also seem to be all over the board...MTTs, SNGs, cash, sattelites. Why not work on one area until you feel comfortable and become a consistant winner. Then slowly add others. Not the most exciting avenue but I'd bet you would "recover" more quickly then trying to win at everything.
