Sup guys. I'll be posting my progress with SNE chasing this year in this thread. Mostly will be VPP updates, with some other random stuff thrown in.

Last years operation was a moderate success. I surpassed my original goal of gaining at least 600,000 VPPs, but was unable to obtain SNE. This year, despite the changes in the PokerStars VIP program, I'm going to get it, and there simply isn't any other option.

I'll leave it at that and with my current total. Good luck to everyone this year in achieving your goals and resolutions.

stars Rush game when it comes could make it easier to obtain SNE hence the change to WC . Can't you get a massive rakeback deal on the euro sites though to get the rakeback without the effort and possibly against people who had a big sportsbook win and know relatively little about poker.

I'd probably be avoiding rush unless abso necessary to play catch up.

Don't trust my funds on other sites but probably some decent deals out there that make it close.

so after taking the whole weekend off I end up getting super sick and throwing up every half hour for about 12hours straight the other day. I have pretty much just slept all week. Feels good to get all this runbad out early though despite being behind already.

oh and in other news my PA quit because she's pregnant - LOL FAIL. so I have someone else coming in possibly today to clean the house and get me some food while I put in mad volume.

admittedly what I said here the other day was probably out of line

however, it is a pretty low blow to grinders to fuck them all over when the business is clearly netting millions and the ceo's are very likely taking a big raise after all this.

too bad stars wasn't a publicly traded company because at least then there'd be some transparency with where the money is going. it surely isnt being used to make the user's playing experience any better.

With FTP out of the game, they have no competition. So they can fuck people over with minimal repercussions. While mgmt gets raises, the grinders that helped get them rich in the first place are the ones taking it up the ass. How's that for loyalty.

still short on vpps but getting the first 100k is the hardest. after that the bonuses are more attractive and its less painful to grind for them.

(Quoted with permission)

Phil Galfond:

As edges (and the regulars’ bankrolls, it seems) have decreased, extra edge-seeking has grown and grown. In my opinion, it’s now past a reasonable level. It’s gotten to the point where I think the overall quality of the games is suffering.

Game selection and seat selection are part of the soft skills that make a professional, along with tilt control, bankroll management, and all other kinds of work ethic. I thoroughly respect and endorse playing within your means and your comfort zone. I have no problem whatsoever with people who choose only to play in great games. It’s starting to go much further than that, however.

As soon as a “spot” leaves a game, zero to one hands are played. It literally instantly breaks. It’s worse when the player hasn’t even left the table, but has simply busted his stack, or clicked sit out. Everyone sits out with him, and when he reloads, everyone sits back in. How would you feel if you were playing poker for fun, just lost a $10k stack, and the 5 people at your table instantly sit out? Takes a little bit of the fun out of poker, I would think. I know that I personally would go from being annoyed that I lost a big pot to being completely embarrassed that this whole table and waitlist full of people think that I’m so bad that they are all only there because of me, and wouldn’t even play a single hand of poker with each other had I not been there.

Some of this issue stems from people having an unreasonably sized fear of playing in a –EV game. Ignore for a second that playing with tough players will make you a better player yourself, or that poker is a sport-like game that you were attracted to because of your love for competition. How many BBs will you lose in EV playing 30 hands with a few regulars? Are you really that much worse than all of them that it will cost you greatly?
-2bb/100 is a pretty high loss-rate for any regular in a game of regulars. So if you stayed another 30 hands, you’d lose two-thirds of a BB EV at most, if you’re the worst Reg at the table. If you can’t afford that risk, you’re playing above your bankroll.

I know a lot of people follow this thread, so I'm hoping that those of you who play poker for a living or serious hobby will read this and stop being a giant cunt fag because odds are if you play MSNL+ in 2012 you are one.

Those who snap sit out whenever a recreational player sits out are no better than a billionaire who refuses to donate any of his money to society. They are just a scum bag.

Don't be that guy. Let's do our part in making poker enjoyable for the recreational player.

its what they proposed initially, minor tinkering with rake caps ,probably more than cancelled out by linear rather than incremental rake and a sweetener to keep the SN & SNE's happy. Whats the point in 6nl when you already have 5nl. 16nl....thats gonna cause some weird bets til people get used to it. why didnt they go along the 0.01/.02, 0.2/.04, 0.3/.06, 0.5/0.10 ,.10/.20 ,.20/.40, .30/.60 .50/1 progression

I was under the impression Stars did not tolerate players who instantly sit out when a 'mark' leaves the table and then instantly sits back in when one returns. Well that's what your fellow PokerStars pros like to do (along with yaojing83).

What a great example for a POKERSTARS PRO to be setting. No wonder predatory bum hunting is so common today. I am all for good table selection, but scum like this just have to take it to the extreme. Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

StarGrinder is infamous around these parts
Leaving the table is one thing, blatantly sitting out is another. I'd ship this screenshot over to stars management, although I doubt it would do anything. Happy to see you called them out though.

Bracket number is how much you have on the table. Unbracketed is how much is left in this particular hand. It's relevant because people can't just run their stack down to 5bb all day if they happen to run their stack up to 100bb or w/e.

I think I should change this thread title because I have no idea if I will catch up to SNE pace this year or not. Am kind of more interested in grinding up roll to take shots at 50/100.

lol so far behind. it's really hard to get any volume in when everyone is such a bum hunter the entire table just snap sits out whenever a fish leaves. rather than sit here and complain I guess I'll just have to keep up with adding new tables more often than I'm used to.

on the other hand, I am beginning to realize how horrible every single reg is even at 5/10 so I think I'm ready to move up soon, at which point I would care a bit less about rakeback.

played 10/20 for first time in over a month. shits fucking rigged

gonna grind 5/10 and under til like 200k vpps then probably spew my bonus money higher up. may drop in to the games here and there if im feeling it. regs still suck a lot at the lower levels of cap so thats refreshing.

logged off stars before I could check the vPP balance but I think its at like 115k

I am barely ever putting in days that meet 3k vpps so I sense a huge mega-marathon grind session coming up where I play like 30k vpp worth of hands in 4 days or some shit 15tableishing 6max cap (prolly will play mostly 2/4, very little 5/10 during that madness)

stay tuned!
