ah well , i figured i might as well start my own operations thread. I'm 28 years old have been playing for about 4 years , mostly for fun never achieved anything pokerwise. Looking to change that. Recently started being serious again about poker. Started playing 5 nl 2 weeks ago. My main issue is putting in the volume , i find online poker to be exhausting sometimes or maybe i'm just extremely lazy.

I got alot of spare time i just can't get myself to grind. I'd be happy if i could grind 4 hrs a day. I want to be realistic though and take baby steps. anyway since last week i have been playing on a daily basis, i'm a FR nit and have been doing ok.

Currently i have been 9 tabling which works out to be a number of tables i feel comfy with. I'm not looking to be a mass tabling expert. I'm aiming to be playing 12 tables eventually but more importantly i have been pretty strict concerning game selection. I'm playing at PS and it's shocking to see the truckload of 40 bb shortstackers at 5 NL lol. Don't get me wrong most of them are pretty bad but why play them if you can avoid them.

table selection rules i've set
-no more then 2 shortstackers( anyone sitting at the table for less than 50 bb i consider to be a shortstacker)

-IF i'm squeezed in between 2 shortstackers i'm leaving unless i got position on some megafish spewing pennies.

-don't join tables with players to the flop below 15% whenever it can be avoided

goals for november

-play 3 hours every day during weekdays , 4 hours a day in weekends when i don't have a hangover ( i don't go out often so should work)

-grind further on 5 nl untill my BR is anywhere between 300-350$ ( currently 265 , started with about 215. Played 10k-ish hands) and move up if I feel good about my work ethics and pokerplay

-play anywhere between 20-30 k hands minimally but most importantly respect the time you have reserved to play poker. No cutting corners.

-Post 10 'intresting' hands a week

-work on my valuebetting , I need to be betting bigger for value

-up my 3 bet stats to a more respectable % ( currently 2% rofl)

-maintain a winrate between 5-10 bb/100 ( currently 9bb/100) , this doesn't seem to be much at 5 nl but my game has a bunch of leaks and i'm trying to steadily plug them. This winrate ratio seems to be a reasonable and realistic goal for me at the moment

-get my first taste of 10 nl. join trainingsite. Build up a respectable sample of hands and be a 5bb/100 + winner.

longterm goals

-rebuild my game once i'm grinding 10 nl. I know i have a bunch of big leaks , i need to get better at assessing ranges and pre and postflop agression.

-Set aside my ego and accept criticism and be gratefull for people taking the time to comment my hands and not ever take it personal even though it might sound harsh. It's just poker.

-hire a coach and pay him with my pokerprofits , probably not something i can afford before i am a 25 nl regfish and properly ( over) rolled for it.

- reach 50 nl with the feeling that i got the potential to 1 day be a decent 100 nl player

-willingness to learn and improve

I'm really weird , i love reading about poker , i even had paying subscriptions to training sites because i love watching instructional poker videos , they fascinate me and i'm hooked. don't ask me to play though, i'll look for any excuse not to play. It's probably a mental thing , probably insecure about myself and having the ' pressure ' i need to achieve something and yadda yadda

regarding table selection, if your shorthanded play is decent, starting tables is one of the best ways to get the best tables.

GL dude, bit of advice for you; stay away from DaneCoolidge he's badass prolly the greatest 5nl player of all time. youve prolly already felt his wrath.......if you didnt get it thats me check your database for spewtards i'll be there.

Today i made 2 spitecalls and it was early on at the beginning of my session. I wasn't focused and basically clicked call without any reasoning behind it. I instantly acknowledged it and upped my game.

I went from something like 3 buy ins down to 0.5 buy ins down at the end of the day. My pokerplay was awfull in the beginning and pretty decent after a bad start. On a emotional level i have managed to keep my cool so far. 12k ish hands no feelings of tilt , frustration , remorce about plays. Yes i was upset that i made 2 shitty calls but i quickly realised you can only correct mistakes by being twice as focused , patient and motivated. I cut down my tables from 9-6 to looked into every spot as detailed as i could. It might actually look stupid to c me use the timebank for a 15 bb pot but it helped to reduce the losses for the day. After my horrendous start i kind of felt liberated just by being honest to myself and not get stuck in an emotional rollercoaster. I said out loud ' those were 2 bad calls you could have avoided if you were focused instead of autopiloting and being complacent'. I instantly cut down in tables from 9 to 6 tables. I'm telling you 6 normal speed full ring tables feels like being stuck in traffic , however you get plenty of time to look around and spot details which helped my game and results.

Pokerwise i never achieved something because i had selfconfidence issues which basically always ended up in tilting off bankrolls. I don't know what brought the change of heart. Probably because i feel alot better on a psychological level in real life. I feel like the only thing i need to do is give it my best. Don't look for excuses , don't blame shit on variance. Variance comes with the game, focus on the decision. Mainly be honest to yourself if you made a crappy play and set yourself straight. It doesn't help you if you blame yourself for being stupid in certain spots in the game. Just acknowledge you played it bad, take a deep breath, close a few tables that weren't that great anyway and focus twice as much.

Today i feel like i learned alot on a mental level and i acknowledge that the right mentality that comes with the game is something i will always need to be working on.

SO far i have been keeping up with the hours i planned to spend on playing. Had a little swong , part of it was variance and one rlly dumb play. Still haven't experienced tilt lol , thank god for that. I'm prone to making spewy plays when i'm not focused enough. Sometimes i don't spend enough time thinking about my opponent's range and I should keep an eye on that. Ah well lesson learned. I think i improved my valuebetting , trying to build bigger pots with strong hands , villains don't seem to pay much attention to bestizing in general so i can get away with betting bigger with my value hands. I'm not really paying attention towards volume. I think setting volume goals at 5 nl probably wasn't a good idea because it's all about learning. However I do put in the hours i scheduled to play poker. I've also dropped to 6 tables permanently for the time being. It's really hard to find full stacked tables at 5 nl LOL. I'm a bit of a nit regarding tableselection. I'm always looking for better tables. I don't see the value in playing 40 bb shortstacking nits. Most of the tables are nitty anyway so i prefer a 100 bb weaktight nit above a 40 bb weaktight nit. Makes sense i guess. During session i often switch tables whenever full stacks leave and the 5 nl shortstack pro's swamp the table. my non showdown winnings are actually pretty good just slightly below 0. I think it had everything to do with people not ever defending their blinds which makes for easy free monies in late position. I usually start stealing from the Hijack if the table conditions are good for it. I believe this has conbtributed enormously to my non showdown winnings. Even when they take a flop u can CB and they'll fold on some boards u'll get away with 2 barrels and they'll fold their middling pairs and such. My 3 bet stats are still ridicilously low but i don't like turning hands that play well postflop into bluffs versus extremely nitty opening ranges. I'lll sometimes turn hands like K7s into a bluff pre but i'm very cautious with those spicy tricks.
