After a few years in FTR I think its time I will run my own operation
In the last few years I have been mostly playing the $16 and $27 Sng on stars, my total earnings is about $7000, most of it withdrawn from stars.
In the last year or so I think I have not improved much as a player, and I think some of it is due to lack of focus, so I have decided to run this operation, hopefully to improve a bit as a player
Goal of the operation is turning $100 into $10,000
I will mostly grind Sngs for this operation with probably some Omaha8, stud8 and HORSE limit cash session thrown into the mix
Bankroll management rules:
1. at least 25BI for an Sng
2. At least 200BB for limit cash game
3. Never risk more then 10% of the roll in a given session
So I will start by grinding the 3.25 turbos on stars
I may sometimes play higher Sngs but this will be managed from a different bankroll

Still Day1:
Bubbled out of another $3.40 when my AK got cracked by A2o and on the very next hand my QQ got cracked by K8; ,managed to lose another $1.5 in PLO8 micro limits.
However before this Day 1 of the operation turned into a total disaster I managed to win a 2 table 3.40 NLO8 Sng, so total profit so far is $4 and change, yeah me...

Since you've got experience in the misc side games I would suggest you give some of the micro MTTs a shot. Often on the ~$5 will only have ~200 so it's not horribly long and 50%+ of the field barely knows the rules.

As one of the goals in this operation is to improve my game, I started reviewing some of the tournaments I played, its time to address a fe leaks
1. Overplaying aces in PLO8 after the flop OOP - I think one of the reasons I do it is because the PFR to isolate creates a big pot when called, which makes me c-bet the flop OOP
2. Chasing too much in stud high when starting with one pair

Standard is 100x for MTTs, so that is definitely safe I would think.
Up to $5 you might be super safe with 50BI, not really sure.

Day2:
Quite a bad day, 15 Sngs (10,18 and 90 players) with only 3 ITM, and like 6 of busting at the bubble, oh well, you win some you lose some

I couldnt believe you were starting with $100, but withdrawals would account for that. GL with the OP TLR.

Thanks, I have more then 100 in my bankroll, but decided to start this operation from 100 for multiple reasons, one of them is the challange of it, the other is that as I said I feel my game is not going anywhere in the last year or so, so it will give me a chance to start at the low levels and evaluate my game more. In addition I was in a big dowswing lately so it was a way to break it a bit, move down and find my game again

Good luck TLR, you got this. Mixing in some $4.40 180mans might be a nice change if you get bored

Day 3:
All and all a decent day, BR up to $178, I have played 3 180 players $2.2 Sngs, while I did not cash in any of them they seem incredebly soft, I will definitly play a bit more of those.
I also played 2 $5.20 DoN Sng, broke even, and they also seem beatable as people do not adjust well to the DoN format, I dont really like the style of play required there, but I think that they can help me build my roll at this stage.
By my BR rules I can move up to the $6.5, but I think I will not do that yet, I may mix in one or two once in a while, but I think I will stay in the $2-3 range until I will get my BR to over $200.
I also gave a shut today to the $2.2 Quintruple tournament, 1024 players, 4 player shootout, so total of 5 4 player Sng. Seems like a fun format, I will definitly play it again if I have the chance, I busted out in the first one I played in a coinflip (AK vs 88 if I recall correctly)

Is there a strong reason you bounce around games so much? If you really want to evaluate your game it might help to stick with one game (maybe 2 tops).
At worst shifting every month or so, instead of everyday?

I always liked to play a variaty of games, I agree that there is a big difference between the MTT and the Sngs, I would like to play more MTTs but I rarely have the time for them, but you have a good point that it may be better for me to stick to one format for a while, thanks

Almost a week to this operation, with about 60 Sngs played at the $2-3 range, with a few MTTs and some time devoted to reviwing tourneys, my conclusions so far:
Games are very soft and beatable with ABC poker, and as such it is very hard to draw real conclusions from those, however some points I picked up in my games
Omaha h/l:
I play this game too passively, I tend to try to see a flops cheaply but this transllate into tons of multiway pots, so I can only continue playing with nut or not draw, so I need to be more aggresive preflop in those games
However I overplay AAxx on missed flop, I need to exercise better pot control on those hands
Stud: I suck at this game, since i dont plan to invest any time on getting better in it in the near future I need to stay out of trouble as much as possible when playing HORSE
Holdem: I need to be more aggressive with weak aces in SB/BB when pot has not be raised
I need to fold more from the SB
Bankroll now is at $218, up from the $100 starting point 6 days ago

Do you mean raising pre, or betting an Axx flop?
I don't necessarily think calling Axo with x < 8 from the SB getting 7:1 is a great idea, let alone raising and playing OOP with a weak hand that usually misses and when it hits you don't know how good it is.
Or are you talking some BvB scenario?

I am mainly refering to BvB and cases when the button limps and SB completes and I have Ax in the BB.

I played 100 Sngs in the $3 range, currently I am 4th in the battle of the planets leaderboard for this week, with 9 hours remaining, I hope to stay in the top 10 to get a free ticket to the battle of the planet shootout

EP Limp reraise is a good isolation play at the $16 and above IMO, on lower buy ins too often one of two things will happen - you will find yourself in a 5-7 way unraised pot or you will see a raise, reraise and get 4 callers and find yourself in a big pot OOP

Pretty bad day today, played a bunch of $6.5 Sngs for a total of -$30 and lost about $20 in a cash game session, seen a lot of bad beats and some bad play, hope to rebound in the next few days

Week 2:
So far a relatively bad week, down about $100 since the beginning of the week.
I mainly play the $6.5 Sngs, running pretty badly, combination of some bad luck and some bad play, just played 4 Sngs and busted out in all of them (2 on the bubble, 1 with a bad call of AT vs AK) I am going to review them now

Hell weeks continues, I can't seem to get anything going, I have reviewed a couple of tournaments and did not see any major leaks, although I did have some foolish moves (like calling AI with AT with about 15BB)

After more then a week of failing to get anything going (and losing money every single day) it finally seems the wheel has turned a bit, gradually started to get my bankroll in the right direction again.
Bankroll up to about $245, so I will take a shot at the $6.5 again, hopefully with more success then the last run

OK, one month into this: it has been a rather intersting month; it started really well, I quickly built a roll to above $400 mainly playing the $3.40 1 and 2 table Sng, winning a battle of the planet ticket in the process.
Then I had a catastrophic run at the $6.5, which got my BR down to about $130 again, and for the past 10 days it has been a slow uphill climb, now BR is about $350, I am playing the $6.5 with an occasional $12-13, and I hope to get my BR to around $500 and move to the $16 pretty soon
I have reviewed my game a bit as well in this month, found some leaks, but all and all the $3.4 and $6.5 are beatable with tight aggro ABC poker and letting other players do their fish mistakes, it will not translate well into the $16 and above

Running pretty goot in the last few days, yesterday I took 1st in $13 6 seater and $6.5 18 player to get roll to about $440, and today I took another first in a $6.5 18 player and 2nd in $16 PLO8 18 player to get BR to $541, the highest BR so far in this operation

I have not been playing much recently, let alone posting, I am pretty busy with work and life
However, in the last two weeks or so I have been playing the $16 mostly, with an occasional $12 180 players mixed in
bankroll hovers between $500 and $600, and sadly I have even less time then usual to review my game
On April 1st I am supposed to move to a new house, hopefully a bit after that life will settle a bit

Having a relatively good run at the $16 lately, got my BR to a bit over $1k, which will allow me to move up to the $27, played 17 Sngs this week and currenly have 394 points at the Sng Leaderboard, I hope I will be able to squeeze 3 more Sngs tomorrow and hopefully make the top 20

After a few days of downswing which got me down from about $1200 to about $870 (including $100 that I transfered from my account to a friend) I was able to win the $12 180 players for almost $600, so BR is up to the highest value since I started the operation - around $1450

After a few weeks of hovering between $1100 and $1400 playing the $16, $27 and 2/4 limit stud and o8 I had a very bad weekend, mainly in cash, in which theBR dropped to below $1K.
Furtunally for me I cashed on both the battle of the planet ($195) and Turbo takedown (200 something) which got my BR back to the $1400 area.
I will start mixing in $38 Sngs with the $27 and $16 see how it goes
