Took a little longer than I expected, and it still has some bugs...
but I think it's available for use, now.
Feedback here or on my email is much appreciated, but I'll probably only work on this one day a week or so... so updates will come in short bursts, I imagine.
Anyway, have at it:
http://operations.talkingapes.com
You can hopefully see my test at the bottom...

Great stuff mate.
Took me a while to get this working because of a badly formatted URL your site provided.
Code:
Beta: Poker Operations Manager
You may update your project here.
Your image is located at: http:/operations.talkingapes.com/images/4.png

I'm guessing your missing the img tag.
talkingapes.com was an old site I used to run, then it was turned into a goofy blog... and now it's very slowly being turned into a fantasy football site.
It's more or less just my personal playground to work on things.

Thank you sir...
Fixed a few minor glitches today.
1)Updated erroneous URL problem in this thread.
2)Fixed a loophole in the code that would allow a person to overshoot their goal and achieve things like "115%" completion. It now maxes out at 100, like the real world.
3)Added your current BR to the graphic. early adopters graphics will correct on the next update.

you could hyperlink your image. Unfortunately, I don't think the FTR boards would support something like an image map.
In the back of my mind, I have the idea of tying this to poker tracker so that it could pull the data without input. That's many moons away though, if ever. I don't think it would be impossible to do, but I'd have to create a standalone program that you would download and could access your poker tracker database...
More work than I'm willing to do right now.

Goat, here's what you need...
Code:

Sample

Fortune, if you could provide this automatically I think it would be nice (nicer, it's cool anyway)
In the meantime, for the techinically inclined it's
[img]<insert url of image>[/img]
Again using goats as an example
<insert url for your thread>
becomes
http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-50039.htm
so make sure the < and > go away

This is neat. Well done Fortune.
Only other thing I can think of that would be cool is some sort of a profit counter. It's difficult to differenciate between starting bankroll and current BR and do the math in your head.

It's not directly tied to FTR. You need to click on Create a new operation, and set up an account.

This is very cool. Awesome work and i will look forward to updates.
1. Custom Graphics/fonts/layouts are a must.
2. i think the size of the graphic is perfect for peoples sig. any bigger and it clutters the site IMO.

Big Updates today.
1) You can now alter your background after the initial selection, so if you don't like it, you aren't married to it. This was a small oversight in the initial design.
and the biggie...
2) You can now upload your own backgrounds.
That is all.

And ya, after I uploaded a pic, I couldn't see the text hardly at all.

alright...
Everything should be in working order. Image uploads will no longer resize. Rather, the script will refuse any file greater than 468 x 60.
It does fix the distortion, though... all is good for now

You can't change the descriptions or drive name after you have selected it once. Only the BR #'s. It also won't allow for negatives in your bankroll in case of dropping down. This is awesome though.

My current signature works very similarly to how this script works. It's dynamic as well.
I wanted to create a tournament tracking system. You register and then you enter in your current known net gain/loss, ROI, ITM, etc. Then as you play games you enter in the results and the script would calculate the change in gain/loss, ROI, ITM, etc. The signature I use updates itself dynamically when the stats get changed. That way you get a dynamic signature and an alternative to Poker Tracker/Spreadsheet tracking for your own stats.
I was about halfway there before I quit playing poker for a few weeks and thus quit working on the script in between games. I've got it down so it stores user data in a textfile and I was almost done creating a user registration system and redesigning the script for the MySQL database rather than the flatfile (text file).
FTR could benefit from having a script like yours and mine for its users.

almost everything mentioned is coming at some point, but things take time.
Xianti... I would be thrilled to integrate it with FTR when it's closer to completion. Right now, I need constant FTP access and access to all the MySQL tables. When it's more stable, I intended to approach you about moving it to the FTR servers, potentially.
I MAY also open it up to the whole poker community rather than keeping it solely FTR, but I doubt it. I don't like anyone else but the people on the forum.
The description and drive name were meant to be left alone initially... I had a reasoning for this as I felt one shouldn't be able to just cancel an operation in the middle, or rename it to hide failure. It was more of a motivational tool. I've decided to change that, though... and it will likely happen in the next update. Possibly later today, but I might take the day off on this... I've put a lot of time into this thing the last week or so.
Xioustic... actually, when I first saw your sig, I was like "Thats cool... I want one." Then I was like... "fuck... I don't want to upload graphics every couple of days... can I make it dynamic?" and so on and so forth... until it formed like Voltron into this project. I opted for a database approach as opposed to text files, but the theory is more or less the same.
HalvSame - Multiple goals are coming. It's not hard to do, but what I can't wrap my head around yet would be how to weight the goals. Let's say your goal is to make $100 and play 1o tournaments, and 2000 ring hands, all in 3o days. Let's say you're 15 days in, made 17 bucks, played 20 tournaments, and 250 ring hands. What percentage have you completed? It's not so cut and dry... but it's not impossible. I need to nail down the theory behind it before I implement multi-tiered goals.
I'll look into the negative bankroll thing... I think your percentage defaults to 0, but the script should work. Thanks for the tip.
other things on my mind are: Customizable fonts, date-based timers for goals, motivational emails based on your goals (low priority, but fun idea. For some reason, me and PHP's mail functions have never gotten along... but that makes it more of a challenge), I could theoretically tie it to poker tracker to make 100 percent automatic, and I also had an idea where I would create a stand alone application that you could simply enter your daily sessions stats, and it would track everything without having to visit the web site.
All in due time... this thing isn't writing itself. I haven't programmed it to do that...
Yet.

Keep up the good work Forturne, we all appreciate it.
As for the multiple goal idea, maybe each goal can have a separate completion scale bar beside it?

Or if space is an issue a simple % could do. Also, you could let the player decide how to weigh the goals. For example I could say that I want 70% weight on ring hands, 20% on donkaments and 10% on BR. My list would then look like this:
Code:
20 donkaments: 50%
Make 300$: 25%
3500 ring hands: 75%
Total accomplishment: 65% {(0.5*0.2)+(0.25*0.1)+(0.75*0.7)}

This is awesome Fortune!
I ran into a problem. I created my operation picture, and that all went fine. I set my goal to 5000 hands, and inputed that I had played 900 so far. For whatever reason, either a typo on my part or something else, it says I completed my operation. I can no longer edit it nor can I create a new one. When I try to make a new operation, it takes me to a blank page. Can we currently only have a total of 1 operation?
Anyway to fix this or make it so I can create a new image? I think the whole idea is really awesome and would love to have it in my sig! Thanks.
Oh also forgot to add, when I click on "Update your current operation" it says this:
Quote:
|
Your Operation is complete. You may download your image, if you wish to preserve it. If you wish to start a new operation, you can click here..
|
However the word "here" is not a link.

Hi GImmemyleg,
You caught me in the middle of an update. I set the software to lock when an update is complete, but am working on the way to reset and create a new operation... it's not totally complete.
What I can do is unlock yours manually...
You're a step ahead of me on the updates, is all... give it a couple days.
Edit: You put a comma in your hand played total (IE:5,000 as opposed to 5000)... My error checking does not accomodate this yet.
When you log in again your graphic should be unlocked.

Rad, thanks Fortune.
Is there anyway to edit the operation and change it from hands played to current bankroll? I know, I'm a pest! If not, don't worry about it and I'll wait until the update.

You can actually make your image be a click to anything you want. Just put the IMG tags and link inside of the url tags. Just like mine links to my blog.
It should look something like this
[uurl=http://blog.flopturnriver.com/Trainer_jyms.php][iimg]http://operations.talkingapes.com/images/22.png[/iimg] [/uurl]removing the extra letter from the tags of course. I could not find a way to post it without the actual image or url working
