so about 26 hours before i have to pack up my computer and leave, i'm going to make an FTR op featuring a mix of poker and RL progress, because i know you dont care about the latter

most of you prolly know me on irc, well i'm nish and i started my poker adventure at 2nl with 16 BIs, now I have like 36 BI and theres 14 left before I move up to 5nl. i'm beating 2nl for 20bb/100 so far, over like 12k hands, but i know I still have stuff left to learn here (emotional control, maybe a bit more on general playing) so hopefully the last 14 BI will improve my playing too. I'm leaving soon though, and i'll probably start grinding again anywhere from the 29th of september to mid october, depending how busy I am at uni

thats it for poker background. now RL (you can switch your eyes off now). i've moved in east africa (Dar-es-salaam, tanzania) for the last 13 years, now I'm moving to the UK to go to uni at the university of warwick. actually have a british passport so that makes things easier. but from time to time ill come in here and rant about how british people are effed up in comparison (jks, no offense :P)

and then the 'changing myself' part, well i went through a minor (relatively speaking, altho ofc from my viewpoint it wasnt minor) anxiety disorder from february-may, and while recovering from that i'm also changing my whole personality and the way i've thought about the world for the last 18 years.

*eyes can turn back on*

k so i'll randomly post random shit here and try to make it generally in some way connected to poker.
<JustinSKS> Tha'ts why I fold my 33 to 72o, because 7 high beats, 1 pair, donk.

i'm in the UK . sitting in a hotel room. stupid hotel doesnt give us a minifridge and wont put the food i've bought for the next flight in a fridge for me because they have a 'no storing food policy'. wtf. (i take my own food on flights because i'm severely allergic to eggs&nuts, and in a 10 hour flight i tend to get hungry).

just seen ur blog. good luck in Blighty.

Warwick is cool. I was at Uni in Leicester (just down the road) and had a mate at Warwick. cool campus with a good bar or two.

and it is 'tup north. whatever Miffed or any other northern monkey says! North of Watford (and even Watford in my book) is northern...

i'd try and make a Duck till Dawn meet up if arranged.

being a bit rusty, i didn't realise that my relative hand strength on this board might not be too high. I think the turn bet is justified vs unknown at 2nl as they may call with Ax, any spade, or maybe even Kx

but when he raises on the river, I need like 24.2% equity to call. i gave him a slightly optimistic range of A9s+,A5s,KQs,74s,AJo+,A5o,KQo - the random Ax accounts for the chance that he's randomly 'bluffing' at me, and the 74s accounts for the times when he misses the flush and bluffs the missed draw.

with this range I have 45%, so even if it's kinda optimistic it should be an alright call

MP1 ($5.09)

BB ($3.32)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q, K
2 folds, MP1 calls $0.02, Hero bets $0.10, 3 folds, BB calls $0.08, 1 fold

Flop: ($0.23) 4, A, Q (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.23) K (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, BB calls $0.12

Warwick is indeed Midlands. Wilburforce just thinks anything outside of London is strange and alien to him - but that's ok.

Hand; turn sizing is rong. You are beaten on the river, yeah no JT in his range? at 2nl I found most people ran at like 60/2 or something. any ace is good, but also hands they see "pros" on tv play.

I agree that turn sizing is bad -

ive realised that in my 'new' life, poker is not a very high priority - above it is feeding myself, going out, english chicks, other chicks, studying my course, going swimming, and other stuff.

having said that, my new goal is this: to play 10 hours of poker without focusing on anything apart from the poker. no time constraints, no hand volume goals, no br goals, just 10 hours of FOCUSED POKER. something i have not done in way too long.

lol, it'd have to be a lot of FDs to get it from 34% to 50+%.

ive decided to continue my 'back to basics' thing by playing less hands. screw flatting with sc's cuz i have position, or limping behind with suited kings. imma mega multitable my way out of 2nl with a preflop range tighter than tight and a focus on one thing only: value betting
<JustinSKS> Tha'ts why I fold my 33 to 72o, because 7 high beats, 1 pair, donk.

I had to have a little chuckle at this statement did mini ops on full tilt taking my FT freeroll winnings and telling my wife the same with hers. Starting off with 13$ she made 37$ profit and 50$ bonus in 6700 hands playing 29.8/15.5 at full ring for 27.92bb/100. I made 44.67$ in 5415 hands playing 27/15.

To clear 2NL all you have to do is hit a pretty strong hand against the bad fish and shove and you'll get called by air and bottom pair hands so often that you wont worry about the inevitable suckouts.

playing 30/15 there was no way i could keep up with 12 tables , was just playing the 6. If youre getting raised on turn or river though consider folding depending on your hand strength and opponent , even the fish hit monsters.graphs are in my OP

Yea, its fun and easy to build the BR that way, but you won't really learn that much is the problem. Once you get to 10-25nl you'll probably be strugglign to be above B/E and then you'll have to cut back tables and learn all over again, but maybe you can be the exception if you do session reviews and you're constantly working on you game. GL!
