So you can't play at all - even if you found the money they'll be checking up on you?
I'd suggest seeing if you can fight this fine - is it legally enforceable? I know in the UK a lot of bank charges have been proven to be non-enforceable recently, so see what you can find out - maybe find a financial or legal messageboard (Fool.com might be a good place to start) and see what people think.

Duuuude, was wondering what happened to ya. Shit man, you're in college. Tell mom and pop "I'm a grown ass man." Never heard of this fine bs but I think you could fight it. Let's think about this, how much money to you need to start up a checking/savings account at a bank? If you can scrap that amount together you can get your own credit in your own name and play some poker again. Sure poker in kind of gambling, but its hugely a skill. Seems like you enjoy playing and it sucks if it HAS to end.

Woa KM, you need to tell us more about this fine. I've never heard -anything- about a fine in the online word, EVER. How big is this fine?
Further, youre several fucking thousand miles away from them, and you don't use their site anymore. Tell them to jump in a lake.
Same goes for my parents. They found out way back when that I quit my bullshit $7/hour job to play poker all day and damn were they pissed. But they couldnt stop me, and they cant stop you.
They told me I would never receive another penny from them if I was gambling for a living. I told them fine, and I've never asked for a penny from them.
Youre getting too good too fast to let it go that easily. Who cares if they dont like you playing poker? Fuck 'em, its your life, you only go around once.
And again, this "fine" is bullshit. I've --never-- heard of that happening to --anyone--. And they'll never be able to collect, and I highly doubt it would ever show on your credit.

Thanks for the support guys, means a whole to me.
You guys agree to let go of my family just to play? Trust me, my parents aren't strict about anything other than gambling. I live with them right now and need their money (though I like them more than just their money). The fine ended up being because I typed 2 numbers wrong for my bank account (I reversed the two I guess from typing too fast). It's ridiculous on their part. I'm going to do my best to keep playing somehow. Maybe lie to them and say I am only going to put in a completely low amount in and just never cash out my original balance? I certainly doubt that will work though. I'll come up with something.

haha...yes I'm in college, have a job, grades aren't good, have a girlfriend, and WISH to play poker. I really just think they are paranoid with how close my uncle was from being murdered by his gambling problem...which is talking about way more money than I have. I'll do my best to pursuade them because I agree with all of you don't get me wrong.

Funny you ask...I started playing again for like 3 or 4 days and played like shit and decided that it would be best to cash out. Good thing I did this as my dad is all over me now saying "I'm watching your bank account and waiting for the transfer". Appearantly, he just realized that I WON a few hundred dollars after I kept telling him I did so. Tonight I asked him "so why again can I not put in $50 of my own money onto a poker site that cost less than a video game or most other things I buy?" and he gave me a speech on his brother and a few of his work buddies who said they were just going to start low but then they kept losing so they kept trying to win it back but ended up losing more than they could afford etc. It's fucking annoying but honestly I'm not going to jeopardize my relationship with them because they provide a lot of things for me. I still fully expect me to start playing again within a year when I get my own place. I'm going to start reading everything I can though about poker. I've also been asking a few people to send me some of their HH's. Speaking of that, if ANYONE playing 25/50/100nl SH wants to email me their HH's I'd be very happy (I'm desperate to stick with this game in any way possible). Also, spenda, you are on a break now right?

Do you not have your own bank account? If not, can you get one? I understand why you don't want to piss them off any further but this is control stuff, not just loving parenting, and since you're over 18 I think you need to make some decisions for yourself.
If I get a moment I'll send you some HHs, but I'm very bad at remembering to do this so if you see me online in the evening (UK time) say hi and I'll see if I can find anything decent in Poker Tracker.

I don't totally understand the state of online poker in the US but how can one of these sites fine you? This sounds like some tactic where you just take them for their word and pay up. How can they legally force you to?
Also, get your own bank account.
Tell the parents you're playing play money games now. They can't tell the difference.

Until you can tell your parents to GFThemselves, I.E. you don't live with them, need their money, their food, you got shit. Get to work, go live on campus, you need to, either do your own thing and move out. Or suck it up and wait. Their house, their rules. Keep in mind, they don't see the poker world through your eyes. they only have one reference and it's not a good one. You will never change their mind. Don't even try. Lots of people move out, live on campus, work part time, play poker. so can you. MAN UP.

galapogos - Ended up being a "mistake" on my part by mistyping my bank account number...it was one number off...so I had to pay a fucking fee...in which they "emailed" me about and I never got (probably because my email was messed up for awhile, but they don't have to know that). I got a lesser fine by telling them I never received anything from them.
Anyways, I do have my own bank account. But, as some of you have pointed out (which I agree with too) my parents, mainly my dad, is very controlling and checks up on it all the time. I continually argue with him on why he shouldn't and how it's my privacy and all that but to no avail. TJ, you are right, I believe they will never see poker through my eyes. I am moving out next summer/fall and should be able to give poker another try. I should have taken my time a year ago (when I was living at a different college) more seriously with poker which sucks. Thanks Mark for lending me some HH's, you've been very helpful, as well as a lot of others.

In the UK your dad wouldn't be able to check your bank account, unless you mean he opens your mail.
I have emailed you a few hands - look forward to your reply!

He set up my bank account and knows all my information to check it out and shit...I'm sure he told them some way or another to make sure he was in control of it. There are easy ways of knowing everything with my social security number and 4 digit password too.
Thanks a whole lot for the hands!...I'll check them out right away.
