Default kickass...i want to be a winner.

i lost my roll to black friday on ft, hadn't been that interested but after i lost it i was gutted.
i had like 11 dollars on stars and like 25 dollars on carbon from trying them out but i never liked either as much as full tilt so my money just sat there, actually i think i put money on carbon post black friday but its shit.
okay so here is my plan to play on either stars or carbon and grind my way up from the fag limits to the less fag limits. prolly gonna be stars just cos finding a table/multitableing is a fuck ton easier when there is a bigger pool even though on carbon everyone is shite.
im a little bit drunk, hence having the courage to start a blog, i will be really ashamed if i dont keep it up.
    i have a minimum wage job and 2 kids.....im a fucking loser.
i know from playing at my local casino (dusk till dawn) that im not the shittest poker player but i do have a tendency to bot my way through online not really considering anything but the cards in front of me.
i am going to study all the great threads that rpm posted which i am massively grateful for (reading M2Ms blog was a true inspiration even though it took me the best part of a day to get through) a lot of spoons posts i have been to lazy to actually work through are fucking gold, i will do this, this time. something on the lines of....i refuse to float my way through life not achieving anything, this is what i want to do, IT WILL BE DONE. wooo

starting at 2nl i am gonna grind my way up as hard as i find it. im at like 45 dollars on stars now... 5nl when i reach a hundred. GO.

best of luck. I started over on stars from $50 in August, it's definitely doable.

neither of these things lead me to conclude that you're a loser. If you're managing to support two kids on minimum wage then quite the opposite in fact.

anyway, best of luck and enjoy crushing the fish. Quality time with kids >> quality time (?) playing internet poker though..

this is prolly the nicest thing anyone has ever said to a stranger on the internet so thank you. i dont really know what i was going for with calling myself a loser i prolly had a point but forgot it half way through. maybe a little more drunk than i thought.

gonna grind 2nl 6max on stars today when the childrens get to bed (quality time with kids > internet pokerz) an hour or 2 depending on how things go.
i'll prolly post results weekly. then im gonna try reviewing my histories maybe chuck some up here so i can see my progress. kool and the gang, really happy im doing this.

Imo NL2 is huge waste of time if you know to play any poker. So, if your minimum wage allows you, I suggest to add up 50$ to Stars and play NL5. Players there are at least somewhat competent.

Every poker player's dream - to play against competent players...

I'd jump straight to 5NL if you can afford it and have some poker skills, but not to play against better players, to make more monies.

2NL is only a waste of time if you have the skill set and the means of having a BR for 5NL.

i appreciate the concern fellows but id rather not deposit any more, i had $11 sitting on stars for over a year now its 55 just playing 2nl 6 max and i don't even play that often you'd prolly call me a recreational player rather than a reg, i don't think a hundred will be hard to make, if it takes more than 10000 hands ill be surprised.

How the hell do you fond time to grind with two kids and a full time job? That's my biggest problem at the moment. When I do have a spare hour or two I'm generally too knackered to concentrate properly.

2000 hands again but 12 tables of 6max is fucking stupid. Im up to 74 so not bad i suppose im crushing it but im really tilted about a 170 deep stack off with KK on the flop against a fag limper with a set of 3s I didnt even think about it just snap called. I haven't done that in fucking ages. MONGOLOID, im posting it as a punishment to myself. easiest fold ever PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Why only raise to 6 pre? I'd of goner for 10 and expected to be called by a lot worse.

i usually do go for 10 and usually do get called by much worse , but i didn't even notice the guy limp i came off as soon as this happened as it was obvious my concentration levels had dropped far below the required amount. god that hand is disgusting. well early morning grind for me then I've go some ranges homework to do.

The following is an exercise in thinking about ranges and what they mean. After each action Hero makes there will be a number like [1], [2], etc. For each number, list what your range is at that point in the hand if you were Hero and playing this hand for real at the table. That's all there is to it.

Assume 100bb starting stacks. The BU is a nitty TAGG who does not 3-bet very much pre-flop and does not seem to call raises with a wide range of hands. He plays fit-or-fold post-flop for the most part. Assume something like 11/9 in FR or 17/14 in 6-max. The SB is a loose-ish TAGG (think something like 18/15 in FR or 27/24 in 6-max) who 3-bets pre-flop 6% and is capable of 3-bluffing OOP. He also leads a lot of flops, c-bets 85%, and c-bets the turn 60%, being very aggressive. The BB is a complete unknown.

It folds to our Hero pre-flop in the CO who raises to 3 times the big blind [1]. The BU calls, and the blinds fold. The flop pot is 7.5 big blinds, and the flop comes T 6 5 . Hero bets 5 big blinds [2] and the BU calls. The turn pot is 17.5 big blinds with 92 big blinds behind. The turn card makes the board T 6 5 J . Hero bets 13 big blinds [3] and the BU calls. The river pot is 43.5 big blinds with 79 big blinds left behind. The river card makes the board T 6 5 J T . Hero bets 26 big blinds [4], and the button folds.

We're going to use our answers in a later exercise.

this is what i am up to, i copy pasted it onto my desktop so i couldn't be influenced by others replies. ANSWERS
    PRE stealing pretty wide prolly 22+ A2s+ ATo+ 56s+ 57s+ all broadway.
FLOP C BET. Im expecting the fit/fold villain to be folding a good bit so c betting the lot sounds reasonable.
TURN. OOP im firing a lot all spades all pair + gutters all OESD all Ts all Js 2 pair hands 56 JT all over-pairs all sets. folding most to a reraise shoving all straight flush draws and sets (JT?)
RIVER looks kinda small i dont know what im betting here with this size i can only expect a call from T+ and i think T+ would call more. Am i bluffing? what would i do with weak made hands QQ+ Jx 56 maybe i want a call from Jx QQ thin value/blocking with a big PP? i dont know if i like a bluff here maybe? i expect calling a lot here villains range seems strong...weird tiny bet on river im stumped GG

if you're talking about stars' stellar bonuses, just cash em as you get em. they dont increase in value like FPP's can (as you get higher in the VIP system)

thanks for the reply anything else would be appreciated

side not at $188 not sure when i want to move up. 5nl is pretty piss playing this gay nitty style could be better though only running at 4pt/bb. i think i was making more at 2nl where i ran really hot.

the best thing to do to improve at nlhe i think is to just do a fuckload of work with ranges. take a hand and break down villain's ranges completely. when facing a bet what hand range (list the hand combinations too) does villain call/raise/fold with? what % of the time then is he calling? raising? folding? what's your pot equity against his calling range? what's your pot equity against his raising range? etc etc. just breaking ranges down completely and studying what they are composed of. you'll find against most of your current opponents that their calling ranges are going to be wayyyyy larger than their betting and raising ranges for the most part, as you probably already know, which has different strategic implications to playing against regs at higher stakes who will typically be less passive. basically, ranges ranges ranges are the key imo.

made it to the 10s doing okay not great dropped down to 4 tables for a while to get used to it people seem to spaz more its odd watching what folks show up with. maybe its just my experience from my first 4000 hands

you need 100k hands at a stake before you can start making generalizations about it imo. Not that you should -- I don't think it's particularly helpful to. Make adjustments to players, not stakes.

    Thanks fellaz.
i moved back down. loosing player with all my big hands at 10nl is ridiculous but i prolly spewed a whole bunch too. so im back at 5nl trying to get my old game back maybe a little extra and get my roll back up to 250. lol. time for some looking at hands working out where i went wrong.

i ran kinda bad today but really felt i played well ended up being 4ish ptbb/100 which sounds okay but it really should've been more. set over set, KK into AA and AK lost em both ldo QQ into JJ lost that. flopped a straight on my first hand on one table from the BB only to have the SB chk jam 2 pair into me turned a boat. Thinking about staying at 5nl till $300 get a more solid win rate and get some faith in my game.

I'd pot the flop. He wont fold a piece and you get stacks in more easily.

okay so here is my plan to play on either stars or carbon and grind my way up from the fag limits to the less fag limits. prolly gonna be stars just cos finding a table/multitableing is a fuck ton easier when there is a bigger pool even though on carbon everyone is shite.
im a little bit drunk, hence having the courage to start a blog, i will be really ashamed if i dont keep it up.
    i have a minimum wage job and 2 kids.....im a fucking loser.
i know from playing at my local casino (dusk till dawn) that im not the shittest poker player but i do have a tendency to bot my way through online not really considering anything but the cards in front of me.
i am going to study all the great threads that rpm posted which i am massively grateful for (reading M2Ms blog was a true inspiration even though it took me the best part of a day to get through) a lot of spoons posts i have been to lazy to actually work through are fucking gold, i will do this, this time. something on the lines of....i refuse to float my way through life not achieving anything, this is what i want to do, IT WILL BE DONE. wooo

starting at 2nl i am gonna grind my way up as hard as i find it. im at like 45 dollars on stars now... 5nl when i reach a hundred. GO.
AT least u got a job and u got kids. you own me in life achievements by far. I"m also playing 5 nl i'll be making my own ' goals thread' but it'll be more of a place where i cry about my pokerskills

lol looser. Joke dont get mardy.

A bit of a new goal for me is to play less, fuck moving up for the time being and concentrate on what Im doing more. this means both playing less tables and shorter sessions making sure I have some good time for reviewing. I want to post a couple of hands per session so be prepared to get bored of my endless stupidity. This way I should find some real leaks in my game and not just be posting up bad beats and coolers.

things are slow at camp kickass. not much time + cutting back the tables meanses i'm not gettin anywhere in the moving up world. but I am playing a whole lot less spewy. less calling c bets without good reason less not knowing how I got to a point in a hand, more notes. shitty win rate lol
