Idk who dis kickass guy is!
Im jkds, i got to 25nl twice...had an awesome coach once....and blame all my problems with poker on laziness and me being an idiot.
Anywho...i skimmed through this page...and honestly if u want a book that will help u out...id recommend Harrington on Online Cash Games.
The book goes through things like the ABCD theorem(by another name), ranges, cbetting, implied odds, distributions, how to use pt3, isolating limpers...basically many many things ftr and 2p2 talk about but arent found in a lot of books. I personally found books like "The theory of poker" and others as being extremely trivial just because of the information you've likely already read on ftr. But this Harrington book i actually found pretty worth it. Its certainly something you could use to beat the micros (fr or 6m)
Best of luck

well I dont know who dis JKDS guy is although hes making his self pretty known pretty fast. I will def look into getting harrington book, seems to be a favourite of alot o folkses. so thanks for the tip.
poker been slow recently taking my time on this shot at 10nl trying hard to think abouts stuff Im doing and just not playing if Im not feeling up for it. just read dynamic full ring poker. alot of what he said was just ABC but it made so much sense and I watched all his videos on pokerbank and I feel like ive improved my poker brain a little more for the experience.
something RPM sid bout ev of shoving even if your behind and always get called got me thinking I dont know enough about EV calculations and there missing out on +ev shoves semibluffs w/e so Im gonna look through FTR threads for some shit to read, no doubt spoon has something to say on the subject Ive prolly read before but its gone from my recolections. peace out motherfuckers

hey dude. these threads cover the very basics. no idea how competent you are with maths, i knew close to none of this stuff before i learnt a little about it via poker. however they may be irrelevant to you depending on what you know.
spoonitnow's Mathematics of EV Thread
What is Expected Value (EV)?
once you've got a grip on those kind of things, i'd recommend attempting some of the exercises in spoon's game theory and poker thread. i've always been somewhat averse to the mathsy and game theoretical stuff that comes with poker study, but i've actually found it pretty interesting to do and easy to see how it's applicable to real poker situations (ie it's not just theory). if nothing else, it will give you a sharper understanding of EV and how to determine the EV of a given play. hit me up if you struggle with any of it, i'm happy to try to help as best i can.
edit: actually that second thread isn't hugely relevant to cash. read it if you want, but this one is better imo COTW: Exploitative vs Balanced Strategies - Micro Stakes Full Ring Games - Micro Stakes Poker Strategy Forum

I keep reading, I feel like I understand what Im reading then all of a sudden Im lost and I realise my brain hasnt taken in any of it. I cant beleive I suck this much. Im reading through it again, with pen and paper hopefully doing some of it rather than just reading it will help it stick. prepare for some more moaning later when I cant get it.

Don't trip too hard about the math imo. I'm not saying it isn't important but if you're not understanding something it's usually best to walk away and come back later. It's usually really hard to learn something when most of your mental energy goes into wondering why you aren't learning. Poker concepts (esp when math is involved) are generally hard for me to grasp. If I'm not understanding something it usually means I'm not supposed to understand it yet. As if I'm skipping ahead in the book and not picking up other fundamentals that help pave the way to understanding more advanced concepts.

Me thinks the maths will come when you're game improves to the point where it will become hell-a-easy to comprehend. Basically have one ah-ha moment after the other. And I don't believe it will come from reading shit over and over either, more so from grinding your ass off and reviewing the shit out of questionable spots.

nice. Calling too much = probably number one leak. The coaching sessions with bikes seem like money well spent.

took a shot at 25nl today. decided not to be such a bankroll nit and take a shot with 22 buyins only 4 table full ring played for about an hour and made half a buyin. think I was a little scared money but I didnt let it affect me. I might wait till I can get another session in with bikes before I play there again.

I seem to be making it profitable for 20bb stacks to set mine cos I always have aces and they always hit and I always keep betting till its in. meh what you gonna do! crack open the beers! still slightly up for the day but puke in the sink run bad.
got some coaching booked. hope Im back at 25nl for next friday, unless I run hella bad this week Ill prolly play there slightly under rolled for the session. learning>bankroll building.

for someone with such a low 3b, you seem to be continuing vs steals a lot. this is fine if you're good enough postflop. if, however, you suck as much as me then it's not fine. also i think you could probably be 3betting more. i haven't played FR (or poker) for a while though

I have not been playing well this last week. now I must move back to 10nl. oh dear. this is a small set back, I dont feel that the regs at 25 are so much better that ill never beat em just that I havent played well and havent run well either. new start tomorrow.

those stats are not your leaks. talk to you in irc sometime soon - in the meantime get on weaktight and load up the first 20 hands displayed when you filter on vpip = true, pfr = false, saw flop = true, and the first 20 when pfr = true, saw flop = true. Looking at a few hands will probably prove valuable, and if you select them in this fashion you remove a bunch of bias from reviewing your play.

too kind sir.
back to playing few tables of standard poker (not zoom) trying to ready myself for the next step up. I really wanted to get some more coaching and purchase the full version of PT but real life money is tight this month, no bonus from work=no fucking around monies. still if I can sort stuff for next month and have my roll at 1500+ ill be happy to move up, on 1350 now. I hope bikes doesnt retire from coaching before I get a chance to purchase his services.

struggling making myself play these last 2 weeks, lots of bad play when I do, surprising im not losing money other peeps must be worse than me. got harrington online book to read gonna start with that today hopefuly it will inspire me to hit the tables. sad face. I may choose to dabble in some 6 max to help with my 3 betting reacting to 3 bets and blind play, cant afford to be lazy in these areas at 6 max, just a thought.

wont be at 50nl any time soon. sadface. over the month ive barely made 100$ at 25 only bout 10000 hands. Im gonna get my own PC next month and try and set up a bit of routine around my playing instead of monging infront of the TV with the laptop with all the distractions of my family all round me. Ive booked 10hrs with bikes so ill prolly get a session in with him soon see if he can put me back on track. considering getting HEM2 over PT when I get the new machine, dunno i'll have to look into it. Im fucking restless.
