I finally decided to start a blog where I could keep track of my progress and get some feeedback.

I began playing in April 08 with a free bankroll program on Titan, ranked well in a hand race, cleared some bonuses, take a shot at NL20 while underrolled, experienced a huge upswing followed by a bigger downswing, then stumbled upon this forum. Since then I've stuck to BR management rules, and started visiting the forums daily.

Last week I won a small MTT for 300$ which put my BR at NL20 levels, and so decided to move up. Bankroll is now at 600$, enough to ride out the inevitable variance.

Today started slow, it seemed as all the nits flopped sets against me, I got kings cracked by a set that I paid off since I was shortstacked, then got aces cracked by quad jacks with KJ. Bad session.
The evenings session was more interesting, I noticed that there were some apparently drunk players in two of the tables (I 4-table FR), and so decided to close the other ones and concentrate on trying to exploit those.
I played three hands for stacks, won two of them and lost the last one.

I've had an ok week up to now, running at 5.4 ptbb/100. It would have been more if it wasn't for me donking around in a couple of spots.
I've jumped up to 6-tabling instead of 4, and I'm keeping up so far.

I decided that I need some goals to motivate myself into playing more and better, so here's what I thought out :
-play 800 hands a day on average. Last two months were at 600/day.
-keep a winrate of over 5ptbb/100.
-GET THAT PFR UP!!! 16/6 at the moment. Seriously, how was I even wondering that I didn't get paid off my hands??!

I'll be posting on my progress once per week for all of you to have a laugh at me. Seriously WTF was I thinking 6%pfr?????

Cranked those tables up to 8, it went smooth up until the last two days when I had those ugly up and down sessions. I felt like I played to the very best of my abilities and had to balance it out with huge donk moves.

As to the objectives :
-I've averaged at 950 hand per day, which is quite satisfactory.
-winrate for the last week is a puny 1.7ptbb/100. I was doing quite well till the last couple of sessions.
-PFR still needs a lot of work.but I have to say that it works well with the villains I'm playing against. They're the spewy I-want-to-win-every-pot kind, so I just let them bluff their chips to me. gotta love the 2AM drunkards.

I also learned the hard way that when a reg overbets in a small/limped pot, he isn't bluffing.

Here's one of the hands where I'm pretty sure I misplayed.

I somehow didn't shove the river because I wasn't sure I was ahead of his range, but thinking again of the action, he speeds when the 10 hits, so I should have weighted his range more towards the straight than higher boats.
Comments?

the day started out really great, I was up 2 buyin in a few minutes, then it all went wrong.

That kathryn is one of the rare regulars on ipoker who actually give me trouble. She plays aggressively, steals in late position, and is not afraid of 3-betting light.

After cooling down I go play in a 1K guaranteed rebuy, and same story, I get my TT beat by QT allin preflop, and to top it off, I get KK cracked ON THE BUBBLE by QQ.

What started as a +40$ day ended as -80$.
I think it's best if I stop for a couple of days. I'll travel on Wednesday and be back refreshed for another week of grinding.

August over, time for review.

That money won without showdown looks horribly wrong to me.if it was just 75% of what it is now I'd reach a decent winrate. Need to work on that, though I don't see what in my game is so wrong, I don't try to bluff that much, hell I don't think I'm aggressive enough.

- averaged 740 h/day. Ok
-winrate is, well, absent. 0.7ptbb/100.
-pfr still around 7%. I seriously need to give this more attention.

This could have been a good month if it wasn't for a bunch of bad pots. I recall losing 3 15 outers in a row the last session, along with all most coin flips.

biggest losing hands : AK and 99. -120$ and -80$ respectively.
I've ran with AK into AA against donks too many times. Against regulars I could probably have gotten away, but hey.
With, losing was almost inevitable. The biggest pots I had trips, a full house, and 2 straights. Variance is a bitch.

Biggest winners AA, KK and TT. Somewhat expected.
BR now at 700$

So here are my goals for September :
-PFR of around 9% as a first step.
-keep playing at 800 h/day

Another week of grindage!

Things are looking way better this time. I'm not getting in as many hands as before due to Ramadan, but it seems my play has slightly improved as a result.
My PFR issue is still there, but with some progress. It's weird but I can't think of the reason why I'm not raising more! It looks easy, but I still can't do it properly.

Running at 6ptbb/100 so far, which is great.

Nice Sept...

A couple of things from glancing....

KK vs AA hand, you should just shove over his 4bet. He isn't folding KK and maybe not folding some other crap.

If you are looking to raise your PFR, the suited connector on the button isn't bad place to start provided you can play postflop without being married to them.

your TTTQQ full house....you can't assume KK/QQ/KQ there. People will stack off with AK/AQ/QJ and straights. I personally push the turn and if he has a higher boat so be it.

Good luck to you man!

Thanks for the reply man!

Over the last few days I've had to relearn the hard way that regs don't play back at NL20. Villain is 7/3.

iPoker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.20 BB (10 handed) - iPoker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

saw flop | saw showdown

MP2 ($4.10)
Hero (MP3) ($22.22)
CO ($10.71)
Button ($9.64)
SB ($53.49)
BB ($31.95)
UTG ($19.80)
UTG+1 ($19.70)
UTG+2 ($4)
MP1 ($19.13)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A, A
3 folds, MP1 calls $0.20, 1 fold, Hero raises $1, 4 folds, MP1 calls $0.80

Flop: ($2.30) 7, 3, 2 (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets $2, MP1 raises $5.60, Hero calls $3.60

Turn: ($13.50) 7 (2 players)
MP1 bets $6, Hero raises $15.62 (All-In), MP1 calls $6.53 (All-In)

River: ($38.56) 9 (2 players, 2 all-in)

Total pot: $38.56 | Rake: $1

Results in white below:
MP1 had 3, 3 (full house, threes over sevens).
Hero didn't show A, A (two pair, Aces and sevens).
Outcome: MP1 won $37.56

As soon as I got CRed, I knew he made his set. Problem is I had raised and taken down pots for the last 4 or so hands. It made me lean towards being played back at with a weak overpair. Lesson learned, 7/3 bots don't play back.

How retarded is limping behind with AA in hope of getting raised. I really thought better of this reg, but well, I let myself get caught. Won't happen again.

Thankfully the next sessions went quite well, and I recovered those losses with a healthy surplus.

BR now at 873$

I could have probably extracted more from the straight hand by raising earlier, but I had no idea how strong he was, so I decided to let him do the betting.
And that AQ hand is horrible! I have absolutely no idea why I didn't raise there.

Table history. He usually folded when bet into on the flop, but if checked to he went 1/2 PSBs on all streets with stuff like 2nd pair no kicker

Another nice week for 5ptbb/100. Nice overall, lost more money to donks than to regs.
I also dabbled in some PLO8 and stud at micro levels for a little change, it was fun, and profitable!

Nice work.

I think playing different games is good for your main game, so glad you threw some extra inthere.

woot woot! third consecutive week with a good winrate 7.4ptbb/100 this time.
I also broke the 1k mark, achievements achievements! With the BR at 1160$ total, I'm approaching the time to move up to 50NL.
I also finally managed to get a friend to deposit for me on Neteller, but it should still be a couple of days till it gets through, so I'm thinking of changing sites. I feel ipoker is very detrimental to my leaning since I'm almost never put in tough spots, the regs are as predictable as clockwork, and my CR bluffs work too much.

So what would be your advice regarding a new site? I got an account with rakeback at tilt, but I still didn't deposit there (the free bankroll I busted), so I think I'm still eligible for the 100% bonus.

you must be playing well - nice work.
Go clear the Full Tilt bonus now, but don't knock i-poker. If you can keep running like that then why not go back there after the FT bonus is cleared?

Month over! ended up on a slightly sour note though.
Once my BR reached 1.3k, I've taken a little shot at 50NL, but ran horribad, I under 1000 hands, I flopped 4 sets and was down 2.5BIs.
I've decided to take it slow and stay at 20NL a little longer, but negative variance stayed with me , losing with KK to AA, JJ and AK AIPF in quick succession.

This night's session was bad too with a lot of donks and their wish a frush syndrome. But well, +EV move is still +EV move.

So I end the month with a little over 1100$ in the BR. not bad.

You started this op thread 2 months ago with a $600 roll, so in that time you've almost doubled the roll. Thats pretty nice progress man. Good stuff.
Just playing to improve.

Uni starts, and along with it the whole slew of projects to give back on time and classes to attend to. Less time for poker, but I only have to take it for a couple more months, after it, it's ZOMG RLF !!!

October was low on the number of hands, but good in results. I took another shot at NL50 and moved back down again. Grinded the BR back up some, then tried a different approach, I played only one table of NL50 + 9 of NL20, and it went quite well! Played a another session with 2 tables of NL50 with good results.
I think this approach suits me better when it comes to moving up. I'll keep adding one table at a time until I'm finally ready for the big jump.

I am almost positive that I have played 1/2nl with this guy around May, thats weird.

I dont know how it looks like on 20nl/50nl tables, but once you get to 100nl on ipoker I recommend moving to 6max. nitrings higher than 50nl are almost unplayable during shortstack peak times.

I find that starting with 1/2 tables at a higher level, then gradually adding more, is by far the best way to move up.

Nice work!

Finally got it done!! I've withdrawn my roll from ipoker and deposited on FT. Couldn't get the 100% bonus because it turns out the free 50$ I received there counts as the first deposit, but still, playing with rakeback will be awesome.

I got 675$ deposited there and waiting on 500$ to come from another ipoker skin. I'll first start at 25NL to get my feet wet, then start taking shots at 50NL.

BR starts at 1175$. Lets do this!

Long time no post!
So let's see, I went to FTP for rakeback, but I just couldn't stand playing there, the software just sucked when compared to Stars. I struggled playing 10 tables there while I could do 16 comfortably on stars.

So I moved the roll to stars, grinded 25NL for a while, withdrew a around 120$ to pay for HEM and a couple of games. I also took a shot at 50NL last night and it finally went well. Though I'll wait for the next couple of sessions to move up permanently.
