{gmml edit}
NOTE - If the top nav header links are not displaying for you correctly, PLEASE CLEAR YOUR CACHE. We are working on fixing this issue without everyone having to manually clear it but this is the only solution we have at this time. Thanks!
Kinda neat. There's no shortcut to the commune, though.

just my 2 cents - I'm not a fan of the drop-down menus; there was a big web fad back in 2002 where every site had to have em regardless of how useful they were. Since then, sites have been tending to avoid them unless abso necessary for uncomplicated navigation.
Given that FTR isn't the most confusing website in the world (generally good design) it is really overkill having these annoying menus. Get rid of them IMO and never look back.
OR, if you insist on keeping them, at least make them look nice. Weird blue text is weird, and the links kind of blend into eachother.
Easier to just do away with them...

I'm ok with blue because hey every other link on FTR is blue, apart from a few exceptions like the main tab headings and so on. And it's a really old web standard, speaking of conventions. The contrast could be better though, for readability. Also for my aesthetic tastes I would make the tabs a bit less bulky by shaving off some of the whitespace under the text. And maybe those up/down arrows are totally superfluous, although it does provide a visual cue that a submenu is there. I dunno.

I think the blue text is fine but a little subtle horizontal line between each option would do wonders. Or maybe tighten up the line height for the text in there a little bit.
And drop downs are hardly a fad. They are super good for usability. One of the most key things for user experiences on your site is to eliminate the number of clicks it takes for them to go from one place to another.
