Um.. i apologize for bringing up issues in the thread itself, but what's up with a stickied coaching thread for one person. IDk.. i've been drukn for like 6 days, so I may be over zealous, but it just seems like there should be some other way to approach this.. like a list of people on FTR who do coaching or some way for other people to submit coaching stuff...

I probably shouldn't care, and I don't think I do really... but wtf.. here is some of your feed given back to ya or what not.

You realize that other specific forums have sticked coaching pages, right? The HU or High Stakes has had one up for awhile.

I look at FR, OPR, Blogs and Community... that's about it.

If it's only mods that can put up advertisements for coaching services I think that's bad. If it's anyone.. then that's cool. I'm off to go check the other for-hams.. thanks kmind.

You think it's bad for Xianti to allow people that work for him for free doing Modships and other services to get some sort of benefits? Do you think anyone should be able to advertise there services on FTR for free?

The thread does, but do you know reasons for the thread that we are not aware of?

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Moderators being allowed to advertise their coaching services is a perk for the dedication and work for which they are volunteering.

I feel that I know our moderators and trust that they are qualified to be coaches if they are offering the service. I cannot allow just anyone to advertise such services. If we were to allow it for the masses, where would we draw the line? And we would have to screen them to see if their services are worth it -- logistically not possible, as we don't have the time. And, as it's being advertised on FTR, we, the administrators, would effectively be liable for them and would have to deal with potentially unsatisfied customers and other issues.

I am truly baffled by the less-than-receptive reaction of a couple of you to these coaching stickies.

He's suggesting there may be some jealousy being expressed here by those who wish to advertise coaching but cannot.

Oh, I thought he was suggesting that it would cut in on his market share.

He seems patient and calm about expressing his thoughts.

Everythings groovy Xianti.... I sure as shit am not going to offer coaching services nor am I jealous of others doing it... hell, I barely can wipe my own ass.

I just saw somethign that was bugging me in the forums and tried to exercise my right to speak in the feedback... def didn't mean to derail anything of will's stuff in BC thread. In fact I'll go clean that up as best i can.

But if we can't have legitimate conversations about forum concerns and policy in Feedback, what's the point?

You're absolutely right, kingnat. Nothing wrong with you asking. I'm glad you chose to elaborate here in Feedback rather than muddy up will's thread some more.

Thanks for cleaning up his thread.

I think that there's not enough coaching going on in the BC and too much coaching going on outside of the BC. This leads to fewer beginners making it to stakes with lots of rake, which causes FTR to miss out on wtfpwning in the rakeback offers department. This in turn leads to fewer beginners sticking around on FTR in the long-term because they suck at poker and don't want to spend forever playing something they suck at, which also leads to a lower income for FTR.

Months ago I decided to give it a whirl but decided that private coaching poker over the Interwebs was not for me.

But obviously I'm just making an appeal to your wallet. =P

Honestly, I would like to see more coaching made available - even if it was just more mods doing it. I also think the "Buyer Beware" disclaimer would be enough to distance FTR from useless coaches. But I certainly understand the logistics are damn near impossible to just "open it up for everyone."

Good luck working out a viable long term plan, Xianti, which (I hope) can be more coaching via FTR.

I'd rock a Grinder School banner and push it like crack if they had an affiliate program.
