JKDS is on a distinguished road
$0.05/$0.10 No Limit Holdem
9 Players
Hand Conversion Powered by weaktight.com

Stacks:
UTG ($12.87)
UTG+1 ($2.83)
MP1 ($6.27)
MP2 ($1.95)
MP3 ($7.08)
CO ($9.30)
BTN ($9.54)
SB ($8.44)
JKDS ($17.19)

Pre-Flop: ($0.15, 9 players) JKDS is BB
4 folds, MP3 calls $0.10, 2 folds, SB calls $0.05, JKDS checks

Flop: ($0.30, 3 players)
SB bets $0.30, JKDS calls $0.30 ...

ok heres the deal (cliff notes skip to red below)

SB: 43/14/1/0/7 (vp/pfr/af/3b%/hands)
probably completes wide in the sb like most 10nl fishies.
Raised KQo utg and stacked off to our resident shorty mp2 preflop

post hes been fairly quiet...though i havent exactly seen much

so this guy's probably more likely to be raising wider in the sb too, id expect him to be raising all premium hands as well as most good broadways and pp's.

Mp: 35/12/1.5/0/43

minraise whore. mr AQs utg, calls a raise and minraises a potsized flop bet with TPGK. Slowplayed trips ace kicker by calling two minbets and then...minraising the river. loves to limp Ax and Axs and will call raises with them. Checks KJ in the bb bvb, but floats with it with only overs.

so we got minraise whore in mp that plays straightforwardly aside from slowplayin his monster hands, and a sb that raises his decent hands pre and also enjoys limpin.

flop: f ya, i haz the top two (what did sarbox call this again? wait, wheres sarbox been anyways...)

sb bets, and doesnt strike me as the guy that will be betting his draws, this is a good pair or better for sure.

my options:

fold: lol ya right

raise: flush draw on board, and im near the top of my value range. id probably get him to call a raise, and maybe a turn bet. he'd fold all worse to a river though

call: i can expect him to lead out turn, and call a river bet if he checked, and call a raise if he bet, just cuz i expect more QJ, QT type hands than AQ and KQ which he'd probably raise pre. If he has Q5 or 75 he might slow down to a club...but i could still probably size a bet and get some calls. calling also makes it easier for mp to stay in with his KJ or qj or whatever hand he may be holding that'd fold if i raised...though it also allows Acxc to stay in cheaply, but i expect him to play a flush very straightforwardly and dont expect him to bluff often so i dont think id get owned to hard.

so baring a club turn, i think i can extract more by calling instead of raising...and if a club falls i expect any made flushes to play face up

so i call...

o ya i forgot: the entire table is bragging about how they get such awesome rakeback and making bank from rake at 10nl and educating the other people into getting it.

meh, raising seems better to me unless you can be more certain than we are that MP2 will play aggressively in this spot. if anyone has a queen, you're getting their stack anyway so long as another club doesn't hit, so i don't see the need in hoping MP2 has a hand he likes so that he'll min raise it for us, and we can't be certain he plays draws aggressively in 3-way pots.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

this spot is pretty much an exercise in range targeting imo, and i think ive got my answer.

to recap

seeing mp float once in a bvb situation doesnt mean he'll float 3way, and we cant really expect him to call enough to account for value lost from sb when one of 9-11 clubs fall or he potentially hits his other 2-3 outs to suck out with the worst of it.

considering that, the best way to get value from our hand is to extract from sb's {QJ, QT, Q5, Q7, 75, 55, 77} pretty face up range by just raising now. We get some stubborn calls from QJ, and QT, which we'd probably get a turn bet off too unless a shitty card falls, and hope to get it in versus his two pair hands if he raises.

that seem about right?

ok, dont think im getting any more out of this.

mp min raises, sb 3bets, stacks go in and sb folds. MP shows Q5 and i hold. Having mp call however, and then a club fall on the turn would cause me to lose value from both of them and maybe even force me out so lesson learned. Thx for the help
