Ok, am noticing a new trend at Absolute and it's fricking annoying. Seems that no matter what level NL you play there nearly every person at the table has bought-in for the minimum and just seems to be almost not worth playing as decent hands aren't getting paid off as profitably as they should.

Did I miss the memo or something, I mean what the hell started this new fad and is endemic at other sites as well, cause at the moment I'm seriously considering leaving Absolute because of it.

The only upside to it I can see is that with such short stacks, and mis-reads or mistakes aren't punished as harshly as they could be.

You want a table where at least 5-6 of the people have full stacks. Sitting down with shorties isn't going to be the usual ring game... won't be as profitable.. Just try and find a better table.

That's the problem, due to being in australia and timezones, there is usually only 1 9-max table per level running in my playtime at Absolute and it's filled with shortstacks.

I'm thinking that probably party or stars is going to be my best bet, hopefully they have more players on in the times I need.

I'm on the Prima sites and you often see people sitting down at a 10NL table with $1, losing it and then rebuying for another $1. You're right, it makes it harder because some donk will go all in with his .70 and suck out. I think it's because of the free $10 you get there so people are trying to break it up.

You see it at Stars a bit too... lots of $4 buyins and, the other night, a spate of $2 ones as well.

very annoying, but was good when my cowboys went up against a $1.20 push from rockets. He got 3.60 back, I took the 6 dollar side pot!

This might just be because that is the default for Stars.

Lol yeah, lets all write to Dikshit and Lee Jones.

Seriously though, these guys come it two flavours:

1) Fold 20 hands in a row, go all in, double up and leave.
2) Retards who sit down with 20BB and limp in with crap.

I tend to stick a note on the first type. They are probably marginal winners at these stakes and I hate paying them off. The second type I will take to the felt with a AK AQ or a decent pocket pair.

Seeing lots of shorties on PokerTime...half a table with under $10 on $50NL full ring this morning. Needless to say I didn't sit down there.

Lol I love those people that buy in with $2 in 10NL on stars and just limp and try to hit flops everyhand till they have nothing left and leave.

I love it. They go all in with 3 bucks left after folding ten in a row and everyone folds. Win 5cents. Then fold, fold, fold, raise I have cards and call. They pair the board with Ax and my set eats em alive. B-bye

I just made my first deposit at Absolute and noticed this trend right away. From a pot size standpoint it sucks because limited money to be made from big hands. However, as someone stated above, misreads or overaggressive play is not punished. Reading the play is quite easy, all ins on flop are, more often than not, draws looking to get lucky. All in preflop? Fold, unless you have a top 5 hand(pretty obvious). It really is quite annoying though, and i may not be long in the Absolute world unless the stacks improve. I have played at different times on the site and have seen this during all sessions. Play overall is, for lack of a better term, timid. Nice for the TAG or LAG. Only about 4000 hand sample size but the trend is looking more and more like standard play at the low limits.

Well, was working out my goals for the next financial year and given the current trend and number of players, my days at Absolute are over I believe.

I may head back there once my BR is up enough just to try and clear the 60k raked hands to grab the ipod and laptop from the ARP store but that's about it and it's a shame as Absolute is where my BR started and have always felt some loyalty to play there.
