I have never been able to get the FTR HH converter to work. I play at Ultimate Bet, and whenever I want a HH, I open up the little HH window in the bottom corner of the table. I copy and past said hand history into a notepad document. When I want to convert, I open the notepad doc, copy the HH, and then paste it into the "Input" box on the FTR converter. No matter how hard I try, it always says the same thing in the output window: "This is not a recognized hand history format".
Someone plz help!!

I love that link BTW

But, not too helpful TJ. Make sure you have the right HH format. Make sure it is out of the HH window from UB and not the HH from PT. I use another converter, you can find it in my blog in my sig, not really sure the link b/c I just google it every time. Hope you can figure this out.

The point of searching would be to find out he's supposed to post the hand in question. The answer you gave is right on the hand converter page. Posting vague questions with no facts is like asking, WTF my computer doesn't work, how do I fix it.

Who posted that thread about helping yourself, teaching people to learn, not give them direct answers.. blah, blah, blah......

I did post facts; I told you I played at UB, I told you exactly how I obtain HH files, I told you exactly how I transplant those files into the FTR converter, and I told you exactly what kind of output I recieve.

I fail to see how this is vague in any way.

I also read and re-read the converter page and the examples (which are for Party, anyway), furthermore, I ran multiple searches on the topic and got nothing. I still cannot get the converter to do what it is supposed to do. After I exhausted all other means, I figured the next best thing to do was ASK SOMEONE, imagine that shit. Thanks for the immense amount of help.

Number 1: do not talk to well respected members of the forum like this even if you think they are wrong

Number 2: UB HH's are always a mess (see importing into PT)

Number 3: I reaserched and did not find much

Number 4: I told you exactly how to do it and yet you did not. I googled search and the neilwildhurst converter keeps popping up. http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter/

It does not take too much tweaking to get the HH to work for FTR formatting. If you really want your hands reviewed you will need to go the extra mile. Other posters will appreciate it greatly.

Finally, if you have PT the problem is much easier. Do you have pokertracker?

Also in every thread, on FTR, about the hand converter not working, they tell the poster to post the hand same as you are pasteing it in the converter. Imagine that shit, they want to see the hand in question, if you searched for "hand converter not working" that may have come up a thousand times

Give a troll a pass this time. Had he posted more than once a month since he joined I guess I would give him more wiggle room. Seeing how he has been trolling and only thinking for himself I really could care less.

His question was answered and I think he gets the point. We cannot just forcefeed it to him w/out a little sarcasm can we

I think you mean lurking, not trolling bigspenda.

And FWIW, I think most of the responses in this thread were unnecessarily sarcastic.

Welcome DoMiN_8! If you can't get the converter to work, go ahead and post the hand unconverted and mention it in the post. Some of our favorite members (e.g. Renton) never convert their hands and most of us forgive them.

Big/TJ:
I apologize for the tone I used in my reply, I was unaware of TJ's status on these forums. I am very new to the FTR forums, I am however very active on the 2+2 boards, which is how I found out about this site. I just started browsing the FTR forums this past week and I really enjoy the discussions. Contrary to what TJ said, I have not been "trolling" and "thinking only of myself". I fully intend on starting to participate in these forums as I do on 2+2, I just wanted to get the hand converter thing figured out. Oh yeah, I have PT Big.

Anyway, heres a hand:

In all honesty it took me 20 seconds to do it. Im gonna give ya another chance cuz I pissed off a lot of ppl when I started here. I still do but I think they get me now. Stick around and start posting ALOT more. It just looks bad when you kinda talk down to a veteran and you have 4 posts in like 6 months. That was my only beef, give respect where it's due and all will be good.

Thanks for converting bigspenda.

DoMiN_8: Hand looks good. What weren't you sure about? Also, don't post results when you post hands, it biases responses.

This has been the general trend developing in this forum, and it definitely needs to stop. If people can't answer a little more politely, they should just not post and let someone else do it.

"Status" (whatever the f that means) is unimportant and respect should be given to everyone.

P.S. Welcome to FTR

So lemme get this straight, you simply copied the HH I posted and pasted it into the input window on the converter and clicked convert? You didn't modify the HH in any way once you pasted it into the converter, correct? (like added spaces, etc.)

Did you modify the opponent aliases at all?

I am an idiot, holla.

Yea, I used the neilwildhurst converter. All you have to do to get the picture images for the cards is add a colon mark around the letters.

i.e. :js will not work but put another colon after the s like this s:

and you get

You know what's annoying, and I never realized until now, is that the "Converter" link changes from a link to the neildewhurst one:

http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter

To a link to the FTR converter as soon as you post it here. That's terrible because the FTR converter doesn't support Full Tilt HHs (and apparently has some trouble with Ultimate Bet). Off the Feedback forum...

The other thing about the FTR HH converter (and I have posted in the feedback forum) is that it doesn't take antes into account in tourney HHs.

Yes, I used http://www.neildewhurst.com/hand-converter . There are FTR output format settings you need to save first, because they are not the default. These are usually stored in a cookie on your computer so you SHOULD only have to save your settings once, but I've found they get reset to the default fairly often for some stupid reason, so I always check that the settings are still FTR before I convert a hand.

You have to set the output to FTR. BTW, welcome to FTR and I hope that you enjoy your stay. My advise would be to just copy and paste as is.

I have a few words for my fellow members. I respect members here based off of their poker knowledge not off of their post count or FTR existence. Respect is earned and not expected. It also goes both ways so if you want respect you better give it. Stop berating new members when they ask very obvious questions. Just quickly point them in the right direction. They obviously don't know and that's why they're asking the question. They're not asking so that someone can make them feel like total shit, which is contrary to some of your beliefs.

I'm tempted to ask you to post this in its own thread and to make everyone read it. Nice post.
