Hello chaps,

First post! I have been playing Texas No Limits poker for a while so I am familiar with the game and I would like to take it to the next level.

I have been reading up about how to calculate the Pot Odds which is fine in most situations.

However, how do you calculate the pot odds if you are immediately dealt a pair - say 10's and the flop doesn't give you anything (i.e. no chance of a straight, flush etc.).

Does that mean you are left with 2 outs? And therefore your odds are not very good?

What happens if you are dealt a pair of ace's and the flop doesn't give you anything? Does that mean your odds are still not very good? But you would obviously continue with the hand.

Thanks.

Pot odds refer to the amount you need to call in relation to the pot size, it is different from EV. Check the beginners digest for answers. Lots of good threads in there.

Consider Hero with TT. Villain in both hands is a 20/15 TAGG.

Hand A: Hero calls on open-raise from the cutoff, flop is AQ4. Villain bets right out.

Hand B: Hero opens from MP, gets a caller from the blind, flop is K 9 5.

In one of these hands, Hero can expect to be ahead. In one, he's likely behind. Which one?

A pair of aces on the flop (at micro stakes) is likely to be the immortal nuts. We're not folding without a DARN good read and reason.

It's seems like some work with PokerStove would do you some good. Download it at PokerStove.com. Run some common flop scenarios to see what kind of equity Hero has.
