Greetings!

I have recently decided to get serious about poker and after a few days of running poker tracker I think I may have found a leak. I am losing about 25bb/100 on hands that do not go to showdown. After a meager 1300 hands I was down about 3 buy ins and am now up 3 buy ins for an income of about 10bb/100.

I am wondering if this is a major leak in my game or if losing money without showdowns is just something you should expect. I believe I wont be always losing 25bb/100 in the future as it has recently leveled off after my bad beats at the beginning of my play. Perhaps it is too early to look at this statistic considering variance.

A valid question that I do not have the answer to. I would imagine that that would be in the negative though. The money you're going to make the most with will be showdown I would imagine.

I found I had the same thing after getting HEM. After watching a couple of Spendas videos, working on my Cbets, and being a little more aggressive this number changed quite a bit and is now in the positive. I could be wrong but working on most of your other stats > than stressing on this one. Look thorugh the hands that didn't go to showdown where you lost money and see where the leaks are.

Also, not having a commitment plan preflop can make this number do a nosedive. People put in WAY too much money before folding chasing stupid shit or thinking someone is pushing them around.

Stopping calling so much and beginning to raise more will dramatically level this off.

First, 1300 hands just isn't an indicator of anything other than maybe a decent approximation of your vpip/pfr type stats. Money won or lost during such a short time is essentially meaningless, pointless, and purely an entirely inaccurate indicator of how well you're beating the game.

Not necessarily. I think it depends alot on who your opponents are. It's hard to win big pots with air at microstakes when most oppponents just call too much, though it is also true that there are lots of donators who will build big pots to you only to fold after committing significant amounts of their stack. FWIW I've had streaks where my money won without showdown grew steadily, and others where it slowly just creeps downward, and some where it was constantly up and down for extended periods.

If you're bet/folding more than check/calling wouldn't that also make it decrease more? Also if you're just getting completely owned (i.e. tag has position on you and is 3-betting you like a monkey) would that cause it to nosedive?

I agree with this 100%. Anytime I feel like I'm playing like shit and dumping chips calling to much or folding too much, that red line ain't positive.

This. Stations will always showdown if you let them get there for cheap.

Could be a couple of things.
Most likely you're just too passive post-flop... calling c-bets too light, and then giving up on the turn or river. Could also have something to do with your preflop selection.
Post more some pre- and post-flop stats.

Interesting thread, where do I find these 2 stats on PT3, what are they called?

I am talking about money won/lost without showdown, and money won/lost with showdown.
