Statistical anomaly. I had one less than 50% as well with a positive winrate.

Well I assume it means that I lose a fair number of small pots but don't often lose big pots. But in practice, I obviously call more than I should do, or bluff too much, on the river - would those not be the best explanations? I certainly make more crying calls than I used to, but almost always because I feel I'm getting odds to call in case the have air/bottom pair etc, and I guess this is my biggest worry - I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this their own way.

I don't think you need to worry about it unless your winrate is suffering. How many hands is this over?

27,000 or so, which is what I have on my new laptop. When I was first playing (and winning) at this level, my BB/100 was very slightly lower but my won at SD stat was about 54% (over maybe 35,000 hands on my old PC). It's currently about 48%.

My NL showdown win percentage is consistently below 50%. I've slaughtered every level I've played at for a high rate.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

You can be a winning player with a <50% W$SD%, it depends on your style.

So it seems - but still, should I regard it as a leak, or as a sign that I am doing well at winning the pots that matter?

Rondavu, where are you at right now? Still playing as much?

Biondino, I totally quit poker for about 3 months. Reasons weren't poker related. I went through a huge breakup, lost my internet service, etc etc. I cashed out my entire roll at that time. I just started back up last week with a fresh $500, and I'm currently slumming 25NL on FullTilt.

The funny thing is I'm still adjusting to the fishyness of that level again, because I haven't played that low in a long time. I have trouble not employing my natural aggressive style.

QFT.

I splash around a lot in small pots, take marginal stabs, see flops with crap on the button, etc. Some of that random stuff sees showdown and if called I'm in really rough shape.

What really matters is that when the big money gets into the pot you need to have the best of it.
