Due to my recent (and constant) down streak, I'm starting to realize the effectiveness of when to stay at a current poker site. I play a lot of sng's and all at empire poker. Recently empire's sngs and Party's sngs have been combined so now i have to play with all the Party people as well. Since these two have merged sng's I have yet to place higher than 3rd in a tourny and when I do so it is by the skin of my teeth and these are even at low $5 buy-ins. I find myself placing in less than 35% of the tournies I am playing in since the merger and like i said nothing about 3rd.

Before the merger I placed in 50% of tournies with 2/3's of my placements coming above third. I have yet to place in a tourny directly at Party.

Thats where my theory comes in. My theory is that Party Poker is so overly advertised it gets the newest, worst players you could possibly imagine. The majority of those players might not even know empire exists and if they did might not know they were joined. I dislike being drawn out on everything that I play so thats why I stopped playing at Party and moved up one notch to Empire. But now that they are merged it is like playing at another Party Poker. The way I play my game has not changed, what used to get me in the money no longer works.

Have any of you noticed the difference in play at Empire Sng's lately?

And more importantly, can you recommend any poker sites that are a notch or two above the way empire used to play? I recently downloaded and will play at Royal Vegas Poker and see if I can do any good there (at least until my free money is gone).

I'm not saying you won't get sucked out on time to time but PokerStars has better players. Sign up here http://www.pokerstars.com/?source=flopturnriver[/url]

Sounds like a combination of not adapting to bad players and the additional variance caused by them catching up to you...

Try playing play money games to practice - the players are horrible, and the only difference between them and a $5 SnG is that more people go all in.

I actually learned to be aggressive by playing with play money. I just carry over the tactics, and playing $5 games only I've more than doubled my $50 bankroll in less than a week.
