Player 1: As 8d
Player 2: Ad 10c

Board: Ac Kc Kd 8h 10s

Player 1: 2 pair A/K
Player 2: 2 pair A/K

Here is where the debate was, Player 2 has a 10 kicker, player 1 has a 8 kicker. But player 2 says the kicker is on the board, the 10..

Split pot??

Can a "kicker" be on the board? I thought kicker is always a hole card?

there are 5 community cards and 2 hole cards in which to make the BEST 5 card hand

both players best hand is AAKKT.
Poker is all about the long long long long long long long term . . .
Barney's back . . . back again . . .

It's obvious -

Player 1 has 3 pair, AA KK 88
Player 2 has 3 pair AA KK TT

so Player 2 wins

No really, it is a split pot

AAKKT is the best 5 card hand for both players

The kicker can play either from the board or your 2 card hand.

Best 5 card hand. Doesn't matter if all 5 come from the board, or 3 from the board and 2 from you hand, or 4 from the board and 1 from your hand. And in holdem, suits don't matter in out-ranking.
In your example:
Player 1 has: AAKKT (T from the board)
Player 2 has AAKKT (T from the board or his hand, same difference)

Split pot.

But sometimes I wish we could count a good 6 card hand. 3 pair beats 2 pair. 2 trips beats a full house. Those hands are so rare, I sometimes wish I could get paid for them.
I don't know what they have to say
It makes no difference anyway.
Whatever it is...
I'm against it.

Not me. Imagine the consequences. You have pocket aces, and the flop is 223. A maniac from the BB goes all in in front of you with 53, and you call. Turn is blank, river is a 5 ... 3 pair, he wins!

So . . . . a kicker is involved even with two pair or a set ??? I thought you only looked at the kicker with one pair??

Player one has K6
Player two has 6A

Board is 66xxx

Does player two win because he has a set of sixes with an A kicker?

And . . . . if its the best five card hand .... and each player has a set (same set), and there is an A on the board ... both players would have a set with an A kicker ...... then do you look to the fifth card as a secondary kicker of sorts?

EX:

Player1 6K
Player2 6Q

Board A62T6

Who wins?

In your first case Player 2 wins: 666Ax vs 666Kx

In your second case Player 1 wins: 666AK vs 666AQ

So . .

Player 1: 72
Player 2: 52
Board AKQJ9

Both have nothing so does player one win with the seven?

I was playing that they would split with A high and not go any further.

DavSimon is an unknown quantity at this point
They would split because the best 5 card hand is on the board. Both players hole cards do not come into play in this situation.
However if the 9 on the board was a 3, then player 1 would win because of the 7.

Simon, I think your getting confused with the "kicker". Don't look at it as a kicker .....just best 5 cards.....
