Default Whats the standard? $2NL 9Max

This was literally the first hand of the session and villian was a unknown, he didn't have a full stack so I was assuming he wasnt brilliant. I didn't know whether to 3 bet preflop, or whether to bet at some point in the hand.

Yawn hand. It's like the kind of hand they never show on the TV programmes. You mean check downs to showdown actually exists? Wow.

I think this is played fine. You're out of position with 2nd pair on a horrible board. Betting just makes him fold out worse, where checking at least gives him the chance to bluff.

As for 3betting pre, I don't like this with AQ unless we know villain is an idiot who continues with crap like AT. I prefer to flat hands like AQ and 3bet stuff like JTs as a semi-bluff, and AK JJ+ for value at 2nl.

Bet thte turn. Yea he's only folding worse but he's also not putting any money in unless he hits his hand either. Don't let him get ahead for free when you have a NFD, GS and second pair. Just take the pot.

I think an argument could be made to bet the turn, but it would be very read dependent imo (as in: what's his range (any K's in there?) and does he continue with worse often enough to justify a bet?). OK this being 2NL and the guy not being full stacked, chances are that a turn bet would be OK.

But then what's the plan if he raises? Looks to me we could be headed to some very serious OOP river trouble if we call a raise.

Pfft I just typed out a long message explaining why I think we're better off checking the turn, and then I noticed just as I was about to post that WE have the fucking ace of clubs.

    Yeah bet turn.
