I originally posted this in my OP but didn't get much feed back so I am going to throw it out here. Been a couple days and I've played maybe 500 more hands which overall have been very profitable.

I'm really hoping I can get some feedback on my month to date stats. I need to do more reading on HEM and figure out exactly how to interpet the stats better. What leaks can you spot here? Let me know what you see please. The following are pulled from HEM under reports.

Plugging Leaks 01 - Overall

Plugging leaks 2 - Basics

Plugging Leaks 03 - Flop Hand Strength

Position

Some of the obvious things I noted are:

1&2) both jump out and tell me I need to stay away from 6max until I develope more skills.

3) Stay the hell away from TP shitty kickers. Hell if I would have just folded those I'd be much farther ahead.

4) Now at first thought well this is easy I'll just fold every BB & SB and I'll be ahead. Then I did some math and realized actually even though it looks really bad if I am thinking correctly I actually mitigated some of my losses. I figured I put in $49.94 between the small blind and the big blind. So if I am correct I actually recovered $20.66. I am not totally sure though if HEM considers the blinds lost or not but I think so. What do you think about this blinds???

you played 1500 hands of 6m
that doesn't mean you're bad at it

also just because you have a negative balance on TPWK doesn't mean if you fold those you'll be way farther ahead
you only went to showdown 20% with them, so if you folded them you'd have only a little bit more

but yeah, you can't just fold all your BB and SB
I think you're correct in your calculation that you made up for some of the losses by picking up some hands in those positions

Seems like you're playing some fairly solid poker Harley. 15/10 VPIP/PFR is definitely not bad. You're blind play is probably fine (although I'm not 100% on this). Most people (pretty much anyone I've ever seen) isn't a consistent winner from either blind, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it. Keep up the good work man!

Would I be off in thinking a lot of your TPWK losses have been from the blinds? In passive games, where it's limped and you check with IE K4o in the BB. It can be hard to just fold top pair. You just need to make sure you can fold it when it's obv your behind.

6 max just takes practice (like most things), you'll get a feel for it as you play more.
NH, WP, GG, TY, Etc..........................

15/10 may not be bad for FR, but 18/13 for 6max is too nitty.

Other observations are as follows (6max only as that is what I play):

01 - Your aggression factor seems to be out of whack based on your VP$IP/PFR. This may lead to a couple of things. First, if you are cbetting a LOT (which you are) then you may tend to get floated a lot as players will know that your opening range is very tight. The other factor with playing too tight is that you are probably not getting paid off on your big hands because they are generally not well disguised.

02 - You are not stealing near enough on the cutoff and button

03 - I would recommend that you review a few of your TPWK hands. Specifically you may want to look at the following aspects:
How aggressive are you playing these?
How many of these are Aces with weak kickers? Playing weak Aces is a VERY common leak among beginners.
How many of these are you sticking around on the flop and turn but then giving up on the river?
Feel free to post a few of these that you are not sure you played correctly.

All in all I don't see a ton of huge leaks here, just a few things that could really turn things around for you.
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

Where do you get the software for these stats? I'm new to the poker world and this seems like a helpful tool

position position position!
Your position stats go from 13/10 in EP to 21/15 on the button. The trend is good, but you might be able to open up quite a bit from the button. I think if you're only raising 15% from the button that you're either in a really loose game or you're missing out on value from stealing and isolating.

Maybe someone who plays more FR than me could check their stats.

W$SD below 50 usually means you're getting involved a little too light, but with your stats that doesn't really make sense. It'll take some research in your hand histories to find out if I'm right, but it could mean you're putting villains on too tight a range and folding the best hand a bit.

Hey youngun,

See you beginning to post here, that's good

What game do you want to start playing? You considered 2nl or going to stick with MTTs?

The software here shown is Hold 'em Manager:

http://www.holdemmanager.net/

The small stakes version is $55. That allows you to play cash games up to $0.25/$0.50 and tournaments up to $22. You can always upgrade it at a later time if you move up beyond those stakes. I think HEM offer a 15 day free trial. I didn't know how to use the software at first, nor was I playing much poker, so the trial was really handy.

The alternative is Poker Tracker 3. This is what I actually used. They don't have a high and low stakes version, you would just pay a flat out $80 for it. BUT, their trial is 60 days long!

http://www.pokertracker.com

Would recommend you try them both before buying either.

You should also get --- immediately! --- PokerStove.

http://www.pokerstove.com/pokerstove/features.php
http://www.pokerstove.com/download/

This is how I calculated the chances of 89 winning against ThJh in the previous thread. This program is free too.

Thank you loony for the info. For now I get more enjoyment out of playing NL poker tables but that is because i'm not losing anything (freerolls) once I get use to the game and deposit some money. I will experiment where i make the most money and maybe once in awhile treat myself to a MTT. Also thank you for the software links. I'm going to check it out tomorrow when I play.

I do think this has been an issue and I have been working on it. Overall I have been working on position a lot and opening up as position improves. Thanks for the comments.
