I play on UB, and have seen an explosion in the number of people entering low/micro limit ring games short stacked. At a $10NLR it's not uncommon to see 2-3 people seated with $2.
They all play exactly the same...with a non-paired hand, pre-flop, they fold everything below AJo, then with AJo and up they go all in. For paired hands, they push with everything 88 and above. I have seen them limp down to 55 and push if raised. The only variance to this is when they are in the bb. From there, if the hand has been limped to them, they will automatically push if they hit top pair or better regardless of the kicker.
The other thing that is exactly the same for all of them is what they do after winning a hand or losing a hand. Losing a hand means they buy back in for another $2. Once they win a hand they stay until the blinds return to them, and then leave the table regardless of how many times they lost their original buy in.
I generally play a 6 ring table, but have looked in the 10 ring games and usually see 4 or more people with a stack of $2 or less.
If this were just occasionally happening I wouldn't think anything about it, but I have watched it go from a person here or there to 1/2 the table or more pretty consistently.
On a side note, this style of play is extremely exploitable. And what's even better is it effects everyone at the table allowing me to pick up all kinds of pots, and giving me easy decisions to make preflop.

I was thinking about this earlier on today. FWIW you see them on 25NL aswell (and possibly above, IDK). With a HUD they all show stats like 5/5 or 6/6 or one I noted at 9/9.
Is there like some poker forum that recommends this shorty-shove/fold strategy? Do any of them even understand how to make a shortstack game profitable?
But then I stopped wondering cos at the end of the day these players at your table = easy$$$. Especially the ones who keep on rebuying.

I may be remembering some really old sh!t... but weren't there a couple of German sites that were "sponsoring" people to play their short-stack fold/shove strategy. You sign up, they give u like a $50 roll and they get fed somehow ongoing as an affiliate. When I remember remembering this, was playing UB a lot and there was a bunch of these types popping up... on Absolute too.... You could tell 'cause all of a sudden you'd look up and 4 outta 6 people at your table was from Germany - and that sh!t's just not right

I can only assume they are bots. I played some micros at UB early this year, and it sure seemed that way to me. I'm pretty sure they are bots, but maybe I'm wrong.
And as far as FTP, I have no clue. I do know I haven't really seen any at Stars. Or at least not enough that they stand out like they do at UB.

No Kmind, I am not the Percival from Pokerstars. I only play on UB, and under a different screen name.
You are right OhBollocks, they are very easy money!

LoL.
Yes, there's a site - forget/don't care about URL. They actually tend to open 5bb's and 3bet their entire range. They fold or shove the flop. At FR, ratholing can be profitable, though their strategy is pretty limited and not really all that profitable, imo. But I'm welcoming the ubernit ratholers at 6max. I've got a color code in HEM just for them. It cracks me up. You can't play the blinds every 3rd hand and only open 7% of your hands and profit and have only a 20bb max win. No way.
Even Germans can't engineer that sh!t.

yes they are bots. however...a few talk O_o
you're right though, as soon as you figure out what theyre doing its very easy money. I love limping A8 when one is in the blind and insta calling his push because i know hes showing me all Ks, Qs, Js, as well as his actual raising range.

This trend will ruin online micro stakes. And I am pretty sure it's bots. UB is rampant with them at the limit and uNL tables. Use your hud, it will point them out. find a table with 5 of them and rape the blinds all day

Cake is fairly notorious for this as well, at least when I played there it was. I won't stay too long at a FR table with more than a couple of them because really, what would be the point? They are so easy to play against though.
