I call A9 the McManus because he won two big pots with it in the 2000 WSOP and made it to the final table. I consider it playable on the button or one off if the situation is right.

Here's a weird flop for it that just came up in a freeroll:

Q J T rainbow

You've got a gutshot to the nut straight and an outside draw, but there's nothing too exciting about any of those draws. If you get the K you're splitting with any ace; if you get the 8 you're better off but still at the ignorant end.

I'm considering downgrading this hand to trash and just playing straightable Aces

Where I occasionally find good profit on it is the raggedy-ass flop that gives me TPTK on this.

Generally there are multiple callers with overcards only, and the guys playing 89s and so on that feel like they got lucky. Such folk will be hurt by me on these occasions. Joy.

Like all semiTrash hands, you have to know Exactly what it's good for.
