Recently I've gain some knowlege that the value of deception plays a great role when you are heads-up against your opponent... especially a weak opponent. When you raise any kind of hand and you get it heads up, betting weak in the pot will give it the value of deception. Betting hard on each rounds will make your opponent think your bluffing, have top pair, or over pair. Bet the pot weak, he has no clue of what you have. Your could even have a draw. I've learned it's more of a value of letting your opponents make the mistake reraising you when you bet the pot weak when you have a monster hand. In my experience it's just not that much of a value for me to just keep potting each betting round to save my top pair from getting outdrawn. It's more of a value for me when I have a monster (two pair or higher) and I bet weak on each round. If my opponent makes a mistake of overplaying his top pair because he thought I was weak I'll get paid off more. If my opponent doesn't reraise me with his top pair when I bet weak on each rounds, he'll give me good odds to catch cards or make my draw. If I could put my opponent on a weak hand, I'll value bet the river and if he overplays his top pair then I'll get more value for it. However against a multi-way pot I'll bet my top pair and draws hard, maybe even pot it, to see where i'm at and maybe get a good fold equity. (This is all on the basis of a weak opponent) Comments????
