Im currently grinding $10NL on FT. The rake on$10NL pots there is 10% whereas elsewhere, or at FT above $10NL its only 5%. Ive still got another $110 bonus to earn which is why Im playing there.

My question is, is this 10% rake altering my ptbb/100?

My sample size is quite small (11k hands) so my winrate is still up and down but it averages 4ptbb/100. Ive won $80 clear and paid $186 in rake along the way. But, if I was only paying 5% instead of 10% (lets say $106instead of $186) that would take my winnings up to $160. This implies that my actual winrate is in fact 8ptbb/100.

Is this right or am I missing something?

If your question is does PokerTracker deduct rake from your winnings prior to calculating PTBB/100 then I'm pretty much 100% sure the answer is no. The rake obv affects your net take-home, and PT calculates and tracks rake as separate data point. Be sure you sign up from rakeback if you haven't already. As you're noticing, it can start to add up over time, even at the micros...

sarbox68 - you're pretty exactly wrong. Winnings and ptbb/100 are calculated on the difference between what you put in the pot and take away from the pot - when pots are given to you rake has been deducted. PT does not manually deduct it from your winnings - but it's basing winnings on a number that is already less rake.

So yeah if the math is right (didn't check) your win rate with a normal rake would be 8 ptbb/100. Also if you have rakeback your win rate becomes maybe 10 ptbb/100.

It was interesting to me when I looked at the summary tab to see that the average player loses over 3.5ptbb/100h. That's all rake.
Check out my self-deprecation here!

This is part of why I suggest new players play at PokerStars first. There's a thread on it I've made recently in this forum that covers other reasons.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
