Here is a hand I know I shouldn't have been involved in this hand to start with (i.e. I should have folded it preflop) and yet here I am. No reads whatsoever. How do you play the river? Check/call reasonable bet or value-bet? If value-bet, how much do you bet?

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.02 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

BB ($.30)
Hero ($1.16)
UTG+1 ($1.94)
MP1 ($.50)
MP2 ($.78)
MP3 ($9.07)
CO ($.84)
Button ($1.88)
SB ($2.76)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, J.
Hero calls $0.02, 2 folds, MP2 calls $0.02, MP3 calls $0.02, 1 fold, Button calls $0.02, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($0.12) 2, 5, 7 (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP2 checks, MP3 checks, Button checks.

Turn: ($0.12) K (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $0.12, MP2 calls $0.12, MP3 folds, Button calls $0.12, SB calls $0.12, BB folds.

River: ($0.60) 4 (4 players)
SB checks, Hero ???

Now that you're here you need to check call. I open raise this preflop not fold it. This allows you to bet the flop.

You havnt bought in full. You should always have the maximum buyin in front of you. The aim is to stack your opponents. DOn't leave them money on the table

You open raise KJs UTG on a full table?

what is wrong with that? If you're gonna play and you're opening a pot you should raise.

Remember Poker is not all about your cards. But limping in you make it all about your cards.

If the table was pretty laggy id open fold this.

Put it this way. I raise AA UTG and cbet the flop. Most people would always do this. If I only ever do it with AA, i'm real easy to beat. Everyone knows what UTG raise means and everyone can call profitably.

KJs has value if I get called. Making flushes, straights, 2pair trips etc. I may also flop TPTK which I would play a little more carefully. I may flop nothing and fold out opponents who flopped nothing.

Limping I have to flop a monster or monster draw because so many are in the pot

This is probably extremely good advice for 25NL up. This is 2NL. You want hands where you can value bet safe in the knowledge where if you hit, you are best because you will be called all day long at this level.

Don't get me wrong, you're a much better/ more experienced player but raising KJs UTG with a load of loose passives behind doesn't make much sense imo.

Just my BB.

Loose passives, I.e. calling stations?

Well in that case raise, then hope to hit as you'll be paid off. If you don't you can let go cheaply, but it will be much easier to be paid off in a raised pot than in an unraised one.

Obv if you are afraid of raising it then fold it. No point in calling.

Back to the question at hand...

As played, I would also say the best river play is C/C (Check / Call) You are likely the best hand here, but you don't want to see the pot grow uncontrollably here by putting in a big bet which only a better hand will call or raise.
Hey knucklehead! Bonk!
