I figured since I was somewhat of a beginner, and the tourney question was not specific towards SNG or MTT, I would ask here. Is it better to play a SNG with 6 or 10 ppl for the amount, or play MTT (20/50/100) people. I hate playing 10 person SNG for 6 bucks and then only being able to win 25 (19 profit). I feel like I am investing too much for no reward. Now, what about investing 6 and playing with 30 ppl? i know the whole thing with beating more people but I was just curious what ppl's thoughts were. Thanks!

obviously the more people you play against the bigger the prize pool will be and the less chance of winning it you will have. If you are good at SnGs you will make plenty of money at them once you progress to reasonably high stakes.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?

Play some 18 man SnGs and get the best of both worlds. I, too, dislike playing 1 table tourneys for the same reason. I prefer 2 table SnGs because you play just a bit longer than a one table, but the payout is worlds better if you place first. Yes, the variance is higher, and you will win less often. You will have to keep that in mind when you are deciding which you should play.

And yes it's fine to post about tournaments in this forum

At party, they offer 10, 20, 30, and 50 ppl SnG's. I actually prefer the 10 but do occasionally play the 20. I disliked the 30 and 50 because you start with the same number of chips that you do with the 10 and 20. With the blinds going up rather quickly, it becomes much more of a crap shoot in middle to late rounds. Give the 20 or 30 a shot, it might be just what your looking for....
