MP2 is 37/22 over 53 hands and is fairly honest postflop. I can see 3betting him preflop given his range but I had already 3bet him twice before in the past few orbits. I honestly don't think I could have played this any better but I'm looking for contrasting opinions here.

No comments on stack size please as I'm half stacking for 10k hands.

I'd say through a value bet out there on the turn, so he'll come along with any of his draws that you want him to hit.

This is exactly why I didn't bet the turn. I wanted him to catch something on the river and at the same time show weakness by checking behind, hence inducing a bluff even if he missed his draw.

Yeah I would have bet a little bit on the turn. Other than that, it was well played imo.
OP: Beginner to Master

If I bet as a bluff, I should be thinking "am I getting better hands to fold? Is it likely that he will fold x% of the time to a y sized bet to make it +EV?". If I bet for value, I should be thinking "am I getting worst hands to call? Am I ahead of enough of his range that this is a good value bet?".

if you lost this hand there is no way he would have folded whatever you lost to anyway so I don't understand your question

betting or not betting the turn is not even a decision, it doesn't make a difference because you have $2 left in a $8 pot

you could make the case that he'll call with a random 8 because he thinks he has "the odds" to draw but he'll fold the river if he misses
but it doesn't really matter

This is a silly thing to say because your stack size might be a pretty important factor is people's advice. For instance in this case i'd say just shove the flop due to ur read that he's honest and ur stack size.
There's only one system. Bet. Lose. Borrow. Steal. Lose. Take the drugs. Lose. Prison. Death.

Yeah I agree iopq. I wasn't thinking much about how little he had left at the turn.
