This is my third or fourth orbit at the table. SB is a taggish player. BB is a loose passive half stack.

What I'm wondering about is the turn bet. Given BB's stack size, I thought betting was best.

I'd bet more on the flop first of all. This is an awkard spot on the turn. We can still get value from draws here by betting so betting and checking river back is perhaps an okay line. I might just check fold this turn though honestly because I don't like inflating the pot oop with a marginal hand and there's so many bad rivers for us where we'll have to fold to a bet anyway.

I maybe look him up here on the rive getting 3-1 and with all draws bricking. I'd expect him to play a made hand faster than this on the flop so we're really only worried about 8s and maybe aces up. It's defo close getting this price.

Vinland is an unknown quantity at this point
Yeah, I hate hands like this. Its tough to tell what he's repping.
A flush? A set of 8's? Etc....I would fold too but then you spend a lot of time wondering what the crap he had...

Even though the opp is loose, its tough to see what you beat besides a missed flush. His river bet looks like a last ditch effort to get money in....saying he was "all-in" looks big but he was just betting half the pot....not even a full size value bet...I think you let it go without more info on the player...

I agree with the others as well. Bet higher on flop and check turn. Your hand isn't that big that you want to risk that much imo.
I confess in quicksand

check turn. What are you folding/getting value from?(jj/qq/kk) but you're getting spanked by the rest.
fold the river behind as played.
If you planned to "suck out" you did the first half.

I check back the turn because the ace is a scare card and we really don't want a worse hand to be scared. If he has a heart, we're only letting him get there 18% of the time. But if he has us beat we're putting in bets while behind 100% of the time.
