Guys,
I have read all HoH books and I have one question concerning the kicker.
In his books he always says that hands like K3 are bad as we have a low kicker. And if I'm not mistaken he also mentions that this hand with a flop like: K 9 7 will loose to K6, K5, K4 ...
However, my experience in playing online is that a K3 hand will split the pot with a hand like K6 in a flop K 9 7 ...
Did I understood correctly Harrington or I'm missing something?
Thanks for the help!

Yes, your interpretation is correct - but you have to take into account the whole board, not just the flop.
So K3 splits with K6 on a K 9 7 8 T board but not on a K 9 8 7 2 board.
Also, mod should move this post to correct forum (Beginners?)

So K3 splits with K6 on a K 9 7 8 T board but not on a K 9 8 7 2 board.

wtf are u tlking about lol. u got this backwards ure first example where u say they *do* split they dont - this exmple has nothing to go with a kiker cuz K6 beats K3 with a straight 6,7,8,9,T - lol
on ure second example where u say the *dont* slpit they actually do!!
both players have a pair of Kings with 9/8/7 kickers. the six doesnt come into play.
A proper example is K6 splits with K3 on a K97 Q 2 board
Also, another example is K6 beats K3 on a K87 24

Uh Zenbitz, you're wrong - K9872 splits because both K6 and K3 have a final hand of KK987.

Uh Zenbitz, you're wrong - K9872 splits because both K6 and K3 have a final hand of KK987, but K978T is a win for K6 who makes his straight!

But you're scooping with a good king, there's no point playing a hand if you're just hoping for a split at best.

Basically.. you have the best 5 card hand you can make with your 7 cards (2 hole card+ 5 community). So if the best 5 card hand is your K + the board, then your kickers don't come into play.
K5 vs K4 when both of you hit your K will usually be a split pot. However if one has KJ and you have K4 and there is a flopped K, then you'll most likely lose due to the kicker.
Only way to tie that would be a board of like AAKQ2.. then the best hand for both is AAKKQ. If the board however is AAK52, then his best hand is AAKKJ and yours is AAKK5, hence you lose. (note your kicker doesn't even appear in the best hand here because it is so low)
