So I drank too much beer Friday night and tried moving up from 5NL to 10NL just to see if the game was different. It wasn't except that most seemed to start with 100bb where they will start with 40bb in 5NL.

Villian was LAGG. I forgot to write down stats (See subject for why)
On the Turn I put him on a straight but then he checks on the River?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Button ($4.45)
SB ($3.70)
BB ($11)
UTG ($9.80)
MP ($17.90)
Hero (CO) ($23.15)

Preflop: Hero is CO with K, A
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, Button calls $0.40, 1 fold, BB calls $0.30

Flop: ($1.25) 9, 7, 10 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.60, 1 fold, BB calls $0.60

Turn: ($2.45) J (2 players)
BB bets $1.20, Hero calls $1.20

River: ($4.85) 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero ????

your flop bet is screaming to be raised, and you don't have odds to call the turn.

I don't mind C-Betting the flop (although it is close imo) But you have to c-bet bigger.

Turn is a standard fold...

Do you honestly think Ace high is good enough here EVER?
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

Just so we're clear on this...

This is the kind of play you can expect when you drink too much beer. The entire purpose of the post was to show what NOT to do.

No, I'm not retarted but I think Villian was...

Ok, we've established that I should not play under the influence and I played like a retarded drunk but I have another question or two.

If you were villian would you play this hand with 6s9s?
What indication did I give, if any, that I had air?

I don't understand your question. It's like you are saying a loose 10NLer is a thinking player?

like kmind said he might just be terribad and was like hmm i feel like clicking that big fat call button cuz it's friday and that's how i roll.

but if we were to give him any credit at all...
the river didn't change anything if he thought you were full of it on the flop/turn. i'm guessing he called your river bet?

He did call my river bet and when I saw what he had I thought "What an idiot" . Then I watched all the chips slide towards him. A few hands later I got sucked out while holding AA and lost all my money so that was the extent of my 10NL playing. Next time I'll have the BR for it.

If a villain's style is to call every time just in case you're bluffing, the way to exploit him is have the goods every time.

If you don't do that, you're shitpwning yourself and deserve what you get.

I know it hurts egoically, but at this point in time you have more to learn from this hand than you have to learn from a hand where a reg owned you. Seriously.

If you really want an analyses of this hand. C-bet on the flop is pretty hopeless It's hard for you to represent you have hit this board, and if you actually have an overpair, you would probably bet closer to pot. I would either check behind and hope to hit the turn, or c-bet $1.

Turn completes the most obvious straight, if he had an inside nut draw, he now has top pair. That is like the easiest fold ever. Your A high is never good here, you do not get the odds to call, and your only point of calling here would be to bluff at the river.

After he called the flop and bet the turn, you can pretty much never expect him to fold the river.
You obviously just called to bluff at the river, so the big mistake was the flop and the turn. I have no idea what range you put him on there.
But even if you had played like a genious, you're still going broke if you play underrolled. There is no way around it.

Playing like that, especially against a LAGG player is recipe for disaster.

Sit out preflop and get sober

As played preflop, check back flop.

As played flop raise or fold turn. Never call.

As played turn

I ran into a similar situation last night (except not drunk and not at 10NL) with a player who was 70/40/6 and his stack was about $10. I got really frustrated but decided to be patient. After what seemed like 50 hands I got in three consecutive hands: AA, KK, AKo. I took all of his stack and got Thank You's from the remaining players.

I knew I would get hammered for posting this hand on FTR but I did learn something.

Board is coordinated, and is fairly likely to hit ONE loose player's range. With 2 still in, our FE is even lower. Also, our hand don't have much potential to improve...not even have a gutshot. Only two overs -- one of which could easily be tainted by an AT or the like.

Our hand is going nowhere, our FE is slim to none. c/f, c/f, c/f

I already said it. A raising range has a hard time hitting it, and even some minraise donks understand the concept of c-bets. you're getting called here a lot with RANDOM hands.
On the other hand if the opponent is a multitabling nit, I c-bet this 100% of the time.
