TOD = Tip of the Day
for those of you wondering why players cant beat higher levels for the same winrate...or even at all...here is why. you just dont find players like this playing at higher limits. they go busto too fast.
this guy was running 50/8/1 (basically, he was seeing the flop 50% of the time, not raising pre flop much compared to how often he was just limping in, and not being very aggressive in the pots he was involved with). all this over about 45 hands or so. not much of a read, but he did appear to be clueless about...
- position
- general hand strength
- reading a board (the case here)
- bet sizing, as he was a chronic minbettor/minraiser
this is a "fish" that you cant find at 100NL.
but, the point is: i made a good deal (in terms of big blind bets) here because he didnt know he was counterfeited, most likely. and, this hand rarely sees a flop at higher levels, much less continues past the flop. i got paid ok on a hand i never would have seen a nickel from 2 levels higher, imo. lol, i'm worried about a 5 on the river when i should have popped him for a full pot bet.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (8 handed) Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
Button ($9.36)
Hero ($13.74)
BB ($9.02)
UTG ($10.35)
UTG+1 ($9.46)
MP1 ($7.15)
MP2 ($5.48)
CO ($1.01)
Preflop: Hero is SB with 8 , 8 .
UTG calls $0.05, UTG+1 calls $0.05, 4 folds, Hero completes, BB checks.
Flop: ($0.20) 6 , 3 , 6 (4 players)
Hero bets $0.2, BB folds, UTG calls $0.20, UTG+1 folds.
Turn: ($0.60) 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.6, UTG calls $0.60.
River: ($1.80) 4 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.7, UTG calls $0.70.
Final Pot: $3.20
Results in white below:
Hero has 8s 8h (two pair, eights and sixes).
UTG had 7s 4d (two pair, sevens and sixes).
Outcome: Hero wins $3.20.
the whole point of this...to the new guy...is: dont get too confident when you play these tiny stakes, buy pokertracker, and find that you are absolutely KILLING the game for 8 ptbb/100, or lots better.
this is where a substantial amount of your inflated winrate is coming from. this is a 32 bb pot that wouldnt have been a 8 bb pot at higher limits. that goes a LONG way towards your bb/100 stats.
just thought i'd mention it to the newest poker player who needs to read it. i do actually hope this helps somebody.

Fish like this do exist at 100NL/200NL and I have crossed paths with a few. They are just a bit harder to find but they are out there if you look hard enough. They do go busto fast (or luckbox their way to a very deep stack) but when you find them you need to exploit them before someone else does.
