fwiw I've seen multiple hh's where people have just called closing the action on the river with the nuts (ie 2 card nut flush or 2 card nut straight).

If you have 4s5s and he has 8s9s and the board is 2s Ks As X X then you are said to have "flush with 5 kicker" and he is said to have "flush with 9 kicker" and he wins the pot.

You guys seem to forget smooth calling a bet on the river means you get to see their cards. If they're going to fold to a bet anyways, I'd rather smooth call and sacrifice potential profit for a little intel if I don't know a lot about my opponent.

Yeah, I keep forgetting that in a lot of hand histories if you bet/raise the river and they call you get their cards in the log even if they muck.

Don't royal flushes have to go to a show down in order to receive a royal flush jackpot...??? so if you are playing at a sight that has a royal flush jackpot it would make sense to just call.....i could be wrong please don't flame me

Yeah in hindsight it was a pretty dumb comment. I'll have to work on that. I really hate playing nut flushes on non-paired boards. I never know how much to bet to get paid off. I've tried 25%,50%,100%,125%, and 150% of the pot and I just can't find an amount that will consistently get paid off. So my question to you all is how much is the "I don't have the nut flush" bet?

At online tables, where people come and go from table to table so quickly trying to get any info on any player that isnt another deep stack who you feel will be around for a while is incredibly bad.

I think you're going about this the wrong way.. sometimes, if they really have nothing to speak of, they're not calling, period. If they have shown some sort of liking of their hand, just go allin. If they don't, 3/4 pot or so.

Well, it's not a bet, its how you played the hand. if you just call on the flop, spade hits the turn you check and he checks and then you lead at the river, you've probably got the flush.

Lol that's amazing. In some respects it's even worse than the guy who folded to my bet when there was a Royal on the board.
